How long's your sentence ?

Post by bogstandard »

14 years now, i was told when i started "once you're, in you're in. If you don't leave in the first year or two you probably never will, as long as you're not a thief"

I'm no thief
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

How long's your sentence ?

Post by mogsyboy »

God! I've done 41 years and up until this last two years enjoyed most of it. Now also looking towards EVR or even a buy down, the less time I am at the place the better. However I would miss the lads and lasses in the office they do make the job at least bearable.
Thing it started to go downhill when we were no longer a service but a darn money making business

i will be 30 years in april when first started only thought i would do it for a little while must say not the best job in the world but use to have a giggle but under the leighton ,crozier regime its just got worse with so many different managers having different brainwaves every other day you dont have the same day twice

Good luck,and welcome.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

22 years in october all on bikes, its not been a bad job up to the last few years.
I'd rather have Lockheed deliver the mail than ride around in a plane built by the post office

Eight and a half years now, just as the good old days were ending. Started with two and a half bags, on a two and a half hour delivery and home by 09.45, now it's six bags on a good day and home just in time to collect my boy from school (and that's as a part timer). Definitely not the job I accepted.

I`ve just passed the 15 year mark, and have seen the massive changes from day one.One of the most noticable one, being royal mails reluctance to recognise customer interaction on delivery.Pegasus can be chopped and changed all it likes, but it hasn`t,and never will have, time built in for actually talking to the customer and building up a rapport.Whether its the girl on the front desk, the top dog who realy, deep down,LIKES having a laugh with us every morning,to the old woman who sees` you before anyone else in the day,and ctually likes complaining to you about life!
Come on Ad and Al,these are an important factor in our job..the actual human factor.

There's no bonus money in that sentimental old guff. Shut your trap and cover another 80 calls a day. that should see to another five days in the Seychelles :chuckle
