We argue the toss but really we don't know the official stance on this.
Is it a rule that you can only do 3.5 or are we to be flexible(with union backing) and do this.
I thought 3.5 was for health and safety reasons but its hard to get an official answer and so we are having to do extra until we can get the situation clarified. We don't go over our time but still end up walking for 4 hours.I understand about working your time but its not our fault the mail has slighty dropped off.
There must be some walk limit, otherwise we could have a duty where you came in and bagged up and did a 7 hour delivery span.
we get the same in our office we need to get the union on to this in our office some walk are 4 1/2 hours plus thats ok when its a nice day but when its raining its a joke. we need it in writing how long the walks should be and can we cut off if it is longer. our manger allways says you are are paid till 2.40 pm so if you go out and 9 and cut off befor 2.40pm you are delaying the mail.

The SDD agreement still holds the field and in it the max delivery span is 3.5 hours for town walks, rurals are a bit longer but not sure how much.Under phase 3 of pay and mod Transforming the way we work this was supposed to introduce new ways of working(covering lapsed walks etc)but has never been rolled out as most branches do not have agreements on it,so at the moment no one should be doing longer then 3.5 hour walks and covering any out door work.

Johnny,i'm sure that even with the lapsed and covering s**t,we're not supposed to go over the 3.5hr walks anyway.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

3.5 hours is the national agreement unless localy you have agreed more. This includes lapsing and flexing up.

Our area rep says that 3.5 is for a town/residential walk but if you have a van you can deliver up to 4.30hours and that is why vanshare is being pushed down our throats.

i am truly stunned at the selfishness displayed here.
what the union doing? thats all some are saying. Come on FFS you've been told on numerous occassions do your F*cking job properly.
By all means come in early but DON'T START WORK
DON'T use your car
DON'T cut corners
DON'T miss out your breaks
In short do your job properly
What's killing this job?
I'll tell you it's co-workers and colleagues with big gobs shouting their mouths off about how they used to make 1 or 2 hours and still EXPECT yes expect to make this amount of time.
Job and finish has gone, it doesn't exist, it is no more, you can't have it any longer, your task of showing management how much time you make and have avaliable is complete.
This time will now be backfilled with you mates delivery and they will no longer work for RM.
What's the union done about this ? You are the union and you've done it to yourself.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

:Applause

Unfortunately as far as my office goes my colleagues will continue to shout their mouths off and not do things properly what ever our DOM throws at them, the 50% of us who do it right are just banging our heads against a brick wall as they won't listen. And as far as our DOM is concerned we are the ones causing trouble they do no wrong as it helps him save even more budget. Come on everyone when will you learn! :arrrghhh
