That's unfair dvbuk, I was at one of the meetings Dingo held last week, it was very good and very informative, people left the meeting under no illusions at what we have to do and what we are up against, at no point was it a case of we in London should just look after ourself's, it was all based on the future of every union member in the country.

I'm loath to say to you our anyone else on this site :nervous , that you should get involved and put your views through at a branch and local level(as I've said before on the site, I was a rep for 10 years but not anymore) but we have not got a rep and sometimes even with all the aggravation and grief the job comes with, I'm seriously considering taking it back on in these troubled times, I would hope that a lot of the other posters on this site, who imo have a lot to offer the union would also consider it.

Well lucky you live and work where you do. I belong to the other 152,000 who hasn't had the benefit of a meeting, we have a rep, a sub rep and savings.................................. so really any efforts by dingo doesn't benefit us in the least, if he can come and galvanise the rest of the nation great. Perhaps it was a tad unfortunate to call the campaign "London Calling" .

The reason it is called London Calling is because it is to advise the members in London. We are not allowed to put comms out to members in other divisons.

Lets be clear this dispute affects us all. But at the moment it is being fought by the pockets of the UK like large chunks of scotland , and other areas. Most parts of Bristol have requested to be balloted as has London.

Whether you blame CWU HQs or your local Branch for not making a stance its not to late to join the fight for the future all you have to do is say no to savings and yes to standing together and fighting for the future.

I appreciate what you say dingo and believe me when I say I wish we had the same sort of leadership here, and of course in HQ. I am not a militant and even if I was I would be one amongst 100s - where is the national rallying call?, where are instructions to individuals about what they should and should not be doing - they seem to be well aware of our addresses when it comes to elections but information is as rare as rocking horse sh*t. HQ aren't sitting on a fence, they are hiding behind a wall of silence and I say stand up and be counted and so will we.

As is the case with statistics they can be manipulated to prove any case - for example if an office with 3 posties has a vote and they all vote no it's 100% against . 93% of one office but a small one at that is very good BUT how many offices throughout the UK have asked for a ballot - you can give a number or a percentage - I thought it was 40 - and how many offices are there?

dvbuk55,What it does go to show is that when the issues are put in front of the members and the ramifications of RM changes are illustrated and explained, then the union will get backing,Alloa is indeed one of the smaller offices in Fife and Central, but here's the rub, when we get a number of smaller offices, the Cowdenbeaths,Alloa's Lochgelly's they all start to mount up and that gives us a mandate, that we will stand together, the recent PEC i think did authorise 40 ballots and it's up to members in every office to ask for a ballot, ours is in a couple of weeks.

No - what it does show is that 38 posties in Alloa will support industrial action, nothing more or less - are all Alloa posties in the union? They aren't in my office and in many others, part timers in particular are reluctant to join and so there is an imponderable.

well thats where we will have to disagree,I dont think that the Alloa posties are any different from posties in Cowden,Lochgelly,Kirkcaldy or Dunfy, not more militant or less ,just determined enough to ask for a ballot and to vote in favour of I.A.

Right - so they've all asked for a ballot too then?
