ROYAL Mail staff have raised more than £5,000 for charity by taking part in a variety of challenges from running the London Marathon to a job swap.
Devon and Cornwall area general manager Dave Schofield took part in a back to the shop floor event, where he returned to delivering post and inspired countless colleagues to get involved too.
Some employees ran the London Marathon, while others organised their own Devon and Cornwall cycle challenge starting in Axminster and finishing at Land's End, and included calling in at as many Royal Mail delivery offices on the route as possible.
Their efforts raised £5,375.43 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, the Royal Mail's charity of the year during the 2008/9 financial year.
Brian Coogan, supporter recruitment manager for Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: "We are calling for more companies and organisations throughout Devon and Cornwall to show how well they can work together, especially in these difficult times, as a team, to help fundraise and support the wonderful work of its Marie Curie Nurses."
