Here we have to lap 2 walk for 12 weeks in the summer months its a right pain it add about 30 min on to each duty and we have to take the extra mail with us. Its all about royal mail getting you to work the 40 hours you get paid for. royal mail does not take into account the 30 min you might come in early to statr getting your walk ready. we as postman need to start sticking together and taking our full break in the day befor we go out and no coming in early and if some one goes sick now we have to laps that walk as we have no spare staff what will royal mail come up with next.
we have just had a review off all the route and i dont hink any duty is now under 4 hours. lol .

royal mail are not getting any new staff every time a full time leaves we get a part time person so we know have less people on ispl in the morning.

we should have never take then £200 pound pay and mod agreement we got sold right down the river and where our pay rise for this year.

kent postie over and out for today.
Do not come in early don't use your car take your meal relief do not cut corners nor work over without pay and abide by all H/S rules and inform your manager you cannot complete in your time after doing all of the previous.

Another little tip...
We are not robots, and cannot possibly prep to 100% accuracy,so when you get the odd
missort(accidental of course..cough cough)it is royal mail policy that you must attempt
delivery if you have time.
Spend the time strolling round your own walk, your only expected to work your hours
not kill yourself.

Got into the office this morning to find out they are lapsing duties left right & centre, Regional Manager, DOM and LM's all wandering around. Apparently the lapsing was due to start next week but has now been put back 2 weeks, probably because our Delivery Reps came in off their annual leave after numerous phone calls from posties. AFAIK at least 10 duties will be lapsed, interesting times ahead at my office :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

we lapsed a walk in our office for the first time today, this is how it went, firstly we were told they were lapsing a walk in a particular section ever thou as you would expect for a friday there was loads of mail to sort plus sky mags were in,so in no rush to sort the mail about our jobs we went finished sorting and onto frames where we told the line manager right we will do the walk if thats what we must do but we will go out do it first (in the van obviously)come back have our break, take our own walks out and at fininsing time nicely place what was left of our walks in the local post office and off home we would go.oh right then said line manager lets forget that then, and what happened was that there was 6 walks on overtime in our office today 5 got covered by people coming in on there day off and that 1 duty still ended up being lapsed and was done by 5 postmen who USED THERE CARS and because they were dull enough to do and still finsih in there time.AND THE MORAL OF TODAYS EPISODE IS DO THE JOB BY THE BOOK AND NO MORE EXTRA FOR YOU !

50/50 money is now finished!!!!

As for the,you finished early the other day so if you go over you wont get payed, that's bollox.

There are no banking hours, and the 30min flexy stuff is voluntary.

You work over your duty time you get payed extra, end of!!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Our DOM's like that, all I do is ensure on Monday's I complete my hours by either doing extra D2D's or wandering around with my missorts which I take back in on busy days. Then he has no hours to play with and its either pay OT or cut off for rest of week.

flexing might be worth talking about if allowed to have time off when all contracted hours have been worked. would be great especially for part timers they might only have to do 3 days a week.

By then it would be "Part timers? What part timers? It's all full time contracts in this office!" :nana Or to put it another way.....never going to happen

Our manager says that 3 and a half hours is only the union stance and that royal mail say you should work your 8 hours regardless. If this means doing a 4 hour walk and less sorting, then so be it.
We argue the toss but really we don't know the official stance on this.
Is it a rule that you can only do 3.5 or are we to be flexible(with union backing) and do this.
I thought 3.5 was for health and safety reasons but its hard to get an official answer and so we are having to do extra until we can get the situation clarified. We don't go over our time but still end up walking for 4 hours.I understand about working your time but its not our fault the mail has slighty dropped off.
There must be some walk limit, otherwise we could have a duty where you came in and bagged up and did a 7 hour delivery span.
