Off sick and coming back on SA day

Post by da'bunny »

Just wondered what peoples points of view on this are... Ive been off sick since tuesday and today i get a call of my manager asking if ile be back tomorrow as if im not then i cant come back on Saturday (the SA day in my office).
Now i can kinda see the point as if i was gonna go back on Sat it'l be like im only going in coz i know im getting paid more for it, and also you always get there "oh back for your saturday, blah, blah, blah" rubbish of certain other colleauges.

But what doesnt make sense to me is the fact if im generally sick upto and including Friday, yet when i wake up on Sat feeling better why cant i go to work?!! Surely they'd rather have me in than try and get someone to do my round as o/t or get someone in from another office!
Just say NO ....to the new agreement.

scheduled attendance is contractual so its your decision if you want to return to work on saturday. whilst some may not think this is completely moral you do have a contractual obligation. your dim cannot stop you from returning.

I don't think either of the two previous posts are correct, with respect.
As far as I'm aware you have to have completed a full attendance, after
a period of sickness, before you can perform OT or SA, so you would not
be able to work SA on Sat if you were off sick on Friday - though managers
do turn a blind eye when it suits them.
If you ring in on Saturday and say you are fit to resume duty, on an exempt
day, then the Saturday and Sunday should not be counted. But you should
try to get some sort of proof that you phoned in, or your manager might
claim he has no evidence you rang in. In my MC you can ask for a resumption
number as proof.
