Sorry i may have understood the meaning of S.W.W. The way i thought it is, is same pay as present 4ohr week but only working 35hr week? Yes? Therefore no increase in weekly take home but real terms increase in hourly rate with knock on in overtime rate. Also across the board for part timers under 35hr week.
So we make lots of changes in working practice Royal Mail show reduction of man hours and we get a pay increase that stays with us untill the next wave of talks with out having the bad press of inflation busting pay deal across the media at a time we dont need it. Or is that all too simple.

SWW does give a higher hourly rate without RML actually paying out anymore wages except to those doing less than 40 hours a week. SWW could mean some people find themselves classed as FT instead of AG if they are on the same amount of hours as the SWW.

SWW also means those on less than 40 hours get more bonus/phoney share money as RML pay it pro rata to those doing less than 40 hours.

Could the above be cheaper for RML than a straightforward % payrise for all?

The CWU have always pursued a line that they want staff on the average wage...

We are still miles off and they have gone on and on about stopping a race to the bottom...

Why the hell should a bit of deflation come between us and our aspirations....?!

The CWU have had 2 YEARS to get us a pay rise from April....

We as members expect a decent rise regardless........

We should forget getting worked up about a new delivery model blueprint that noone is going to take any notice of....

I want to hear what we are getting pronto and then I want to examine all the excuses....especially if the "you are getting nothing" rumours are true.....

Well, it does seem a bit strange that we have so little info from the last RML/CWU meeting which was Friday last week?

Average wage, would that make Delivery Postman the most highest paid unskilled job in the UK?

Although the highest paid unskilled RM worker has to be :cfo

Bloddy Hell, I didnt realise new recuits were given years to get up to speed.

When did that become RML policy?

The last time I looked 8 GCSE'S at grades A- C were not nesscary to become a postal worker in a delivery office.

The way forward certainly dosent class a delivey postal worker as skilled, even the RLE duties are not classed as skilled anymore but manning the callers office is.

When I joined RM it was the other way around.

Exactly , but what they expect and what they get are two different things, and if you've done any appreciable delivery time you will know
