It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Don't worry it wont affect the QofS if they have to take it all to Warrington (Liverpool Closed  ) and back - you just have to get used to using torches at the end of your delivery instead of the start. The frightening things is that I can see RM HQ actually considering the idea.

True Teebs but I would see them using a MC in Scotland  (it's probably be the only MC left in Scotland).

its worrying for everybody in mail centres. Its all gone quiet on the late shift about our contract being taken away but i know they are putting in changes on the outward primary, which means reductions in the roads layout.Direct postcode sortation seems imminent.Investment in our mail centre seems lacking with no flat machines,or packet machines or even upgrades to lsms.Southampton remains the priority it seems in the south!! .Nothing against the southampton workers but it seems portsmouth and bournemouth workers remain at the bottom in the pecking order!!

Patrickstar. Big changes are going to take place on all shifts. We ca not get our shift manager to talk to us, instead we get little snippets from line manager. Sems the only people management are talking to are thos getting shafted on a individual basis. Hear that there is a total lack of consultation on Lates and management doing executive decisions with out consultation with union or individuals. Same on our shift. There is a NEW work plan, I believe, just that management dont want us to know what it is. Bournemouth and Porrtsmouth have to be worried about employment because Southampton will be saved at all costs.

it's how :lfo likes it , Fear , Uncertainty and Doubt , FUD or more like FUB :hmmmm - that style was started with IBM in the 60's and a lot of firms used that style in the 80's . :lfo the self styled management guru doesn't have a original thought in his head , everything has been borrowed from somewhere else and people are daft enough to pay to hear him .

To be fair , RM used to like vicious rumours and idle gossip before as they thought it made people work better , it can backfire as people will think - well so what ! , what will be , will be , resigned to their fate .

Rumours and lies. Southampton (because of their lousy IMPS) can't make it through a late shift without failing, and that's with the current level of mail. Add in another postcode's work, and they've got no hope of clearing.
In reality, BAA want the SO site for expansion, and as PO and BH are due to get the new version of MTTs, SO are looking the dodgy ones.
PO also do the IoW mails, something which SO couldn't do because of the ferries connection.

No, SO are the ones to be worried..... :hmmmm

i think everybody has a right to be worried about which mail centres are closing but this comment is a bit confusing ?

Is there any information out there or proof that some mail centres are getting priorty over others and why?

SO MC whilst fairly new, is cack, they used to fail all the time with overspill coming straight to Pompey to be processed. And we're talking 5,6,7 yorks of mail!!!

There have been rumours for 10yrs re PO so dont count on anything. Most of the building is redundant (top floors anyway) but again it does IOW. Too many factors to think about!
