Its a Football thing - My team is Huddersfield Town they Play in Blue and White Stripes and are nicknamed the Terriers.

I don't think too much of the job. I spent the first six months being put on any walk that had a vacancy that day. Usually it was in the same office, but sometimes I was sent to other offices in Edinburgh. Doing a different walk every day meant I had the difficulty of an unfamiliar frame and an unfamiliar walk, leading to some extremely late finishing times. i also never knew my day off each week until the day before.

the fact i drive a car means that i was expected to carry all the mail in my car. since there was no rush for the driver i was left to my own devices and started walks late. not knowing how to tie up the walk meant that i would end up having to walk big distances back to my car after each bag. all in all i found it dreadful and don't know how i stuck it so long.

things are better now as i'm on a fixed walk, albeit the most notoriously crap one in the office, nothing but stairs in a really run-down area. i start at half seven and am paid till twelve. i often claim half an hours overtime when i finish at half twelve. i find i don't quite earn enough.

My god you just described how I started - 4 years later I'm still on that round but at least its full time. It came up about 6 months after I started and no one wanted it. 6 steps to every house 600 address and a very run down council estate but I prefer it to being a spare cover man.

Stick it out it does get better. By the way if you go over your contracted hours (even 5 minutes) claim overtime and don't forget to include your meal break. Also they can't force you to use your car and may even conduct you if the car gets stolen and you had mail stored in it. Be careful.

about 10 years ago my brother got his car broken into he left his pouch on the front seat they later found it chucked in the river it was mainly filled up with sky mags

they got the guy and he was ordered to pay damages for the damage to my brothers car by the court and guess what hes still waiting for the first payment

but hes just glad he didnt get sent down the conduct code the manager was a big softie and we had a excellent area rep at the time
he learnt his lesson and never takes his car now and it stopped everybody using there cars until job and finish came in
