Crap Union Rep.

Well our Union Rep comes into work an hour early today gets bagged up and then starts to finish throwing up a neighbouring walk up for nothing! Just wants to get out as fast as possible every day.He uses a bike i'll give him that but only because he cannot drive.He also takes as much as he can on that bike with one pouch on his carrier and one around his neck!
This rep is quite good compared to the last one but we have never had a rep who leads by example.The only factor needed to being a rep is that you vote bloody labour.

AFAIK you can be a member of any non-racist party in fact my rep and his deputy are both card carrying members of the SWP.

most reps have kids and a full time job too and which way they vote should have little to do with it, but as all consevitive MP'S seem in favour of privitisation and many others in other parties maybe we should use are vote's locally to persuade our local MP to keep Royal Mail in public hands

anyway,enough of that, the best you can do if you don't want to be rep your self is to get someone else to stand and keep doing the job properly

reps are elected by the membership in a unit,(unless theres no one who wants to take the job)as far as im concerned theres only one requirement for being a union rep and thats to represent the membership to the best of your ability.

No, I think they're conservative. They're certainly not like labour. They don't support their workers like the old day's. In the coalminers strike like Arthur Skargill standing up for the coalminers.

bad crack that.. i,ve come across reps who may not be up to the job..it leaves people isolated in the end.. many reps don't have the time.

Be patient

They come up for election every year, check with the rep or branch secretary or chair when the post is next up for election.

Then yourself or somebody else can stand against the current rep, I get moaning and groaning, but nobody ever ever puts their name forward apart from me. Maybe thats because i get blamed for EVERYTHING including heavy saturdays which are the exception rather than the norm. Its my fault we have to take DSA on saturdays. I sometimes think that the vocal minority are putting people off from taking on the role of rep.
