Falmouth postman in with chance of national award

A Falmouth postman is through to the final of the Royal Mail’s Britain’s first class award for services to the community on his mail round.

Bryan Trevelyan won £500 after winning in the South West regional final and he joins two other Cornish posties in with the chance of winning a £2000 expenses paid holiday in the national awards.

Bryan, who is also a scout leader, is a first aider at the Falmouth Delivery Office and has used his expertise to help with customers when delivering the mail.

Twice Bryan has been on hand to help in medical emergencies on his route and for many of his older customers, he is their only point of contact.

He joins Hilary Eastly from Looe and Neil Chesebrough from Bude as the Cornish postmen and women through to the national final.

Dave Schofield, area general manager for Cornwall, said: “Neil, Bryan and Hilary have made a real difference to people’s lives.

They are an excellent example of how our postmen and women support communities across Cornwall and the South West.

“I would like to congratulate them on this fabulous achievement. I wish them good luck when they represent the South West at the national final.”
