The Royal Mail has confirmed that Pewsey sorting office is to close and staff transferred to Marlborough.
The news that the village had been dreading came in an email to district councillor Anne Hayhoe yesterday morning.
Andy Sims, Royal Mail delivery cluster manager, said: “Following the final debates in regard to the sorting office at Pewsey, it has now been confirmed taht the office will close and the work and staff be moved to the Marlborough delivery office.
“We are working to conclude this move for the beginning of the financial year.
“After discussions at the parish council office in Pewsey and taking into consideration the paper that was received, it has been agreed that we will use Pewsey post office as an option for customers previously served by Pewsey delivery office to collect their packets and signed-for items that were not able to be delivered.”
