That's just nasty
they want the new starts to stay because they don't know any better unlike us older, more experienced staff who know that everything we hear is complete BS.

Re: VR's and CR's
The next few months will be quite unsettling, I am not sure if I want to rake on VR just yet as there is no jobs and I have 20+ working life in front of me.

I believe living on the Dole is no fun.Take redundancy if you get it, then re-apply for a part time job.Believe me.all fullt ime jobs will go,and the contract you have now will be whittled away to nothing. And you will have nothing to show for it.
Would they let you do that ?

I stared in november at royal mail on a 25 hour contract, and the resign came into effect 3 weeks ago, and my contract has been increased to 40 hours

Re: VR's and CR's
It's the seniority that make it harder for the newbies because they think they are so hard done by, and anything said or proposed by anyone in a suit is a terrible idea or it just will not work. Perhaps your right citizen, the newbies will resign then a new wave will come in and you can tell them how many years you have done blah blah blah and you do not need to lift a finger for anyone because you need to get back the sorting office by 12 'o' clock (it's also funny how they give the 40hr people the shortest or easiest rounds too and chuck the part timers on the longer rounds).wolfie citizen smith wrote:so long to the newbies hope you get a job soon, coz when the resigns come round seniority wins, this is what could happen with this great new world royal mail are proposing
Am i bothered or disheartened by this? no. I have done far worse jobs than this and if they want to get rid of me they will have to VR me. I joined this forum hoping to read good stuff, i mean we all know how bad things are but all i see is moan moan moan here.

if they couldn't do that, they should be fighting for full redundancy terms for all-instead of this allowing this constant erosion of your job and rights. again. take it if you can, because there will be nothing to get soon!

What if a person has gone on Ill health for the foreseeable future then recovers in a year, what are the chance they would get a part-time job? Not that im sure they would but just to hear ones thoughts anyhow?
