spare staffing
is it general practice for an office to occasionally have spare staff, if so what happends usually to them. today i was given a walk to do because someone wasnt in, but is more likely if that persons in tomorrow i'd be moved to a different office if they were short staffed or would i be more likely to get a chance to learn a new walk that i havent done

Re: spare staffing
You're more likely to stay in your home office - I've been in the job nearly 3 years, spent a week in S(h)ittingbourne in my first 3 months, and one day in Biggin Hill late last year, and I was first asked if I would go beforehand. Unless you've volunteered in writing to go to other offices when needed, you're not likely to be moved out of your area.redpin wrote:is it general practice for an office to occasionally have spare staff, if so what happends usually to them. today i was given a walk to do because someone wasnt in, but is more likely if that persons in tomorrow i'd be moved to a different office if they were short staffed or would i be more likely to get a chance to learn a new walk that i havent done
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

Re: spare staffing
In our office we have about 6 floaters covering days off and now at the moment we have at least FIVE spares which means most days at least 3 are going to other offices .
This is the part of the job I hate . You come in at 9 and have no clue where you will be that day .
Anyway to recap ........... the spares are ALWAYS shifted to other offices every day in our office

i guess the most spares we had was at xmas, i think we had 3. this week we got 2 (me & and another bloke)
hopefully, tho very likely as jim said i'll still be at my main office. in which case i'll be sharing a walk with someone, and i'll probably finish quite early tomorrow considering tuesday is good. either way im not in a rush

Re: spare staffing
What's spare staff
we've barely enough to cover on most days without sending any to other offices. They want duties out of the office so that should just about level us off

Should that be "Kill us off" rather than as writtendisgruntledpostie1 wrote:What's spare staffwe've barely enough to cover on most days without sending any to other offices. They want duties out of the office so that should just about level us off
