Selfish Posties

Post by mdwillis »

Hi, I have been a member of postie chat for nearly 2 weeks ago and I think this website is the biggest breath of fresh air we have had for a long time. I am already considering coming in at my normal time, weighing my bags and taking a break before going on delivery. One thing that really annoys me is most of the people I work with in the office who come in a least an hour early so they can be finished early. They are all shooting themselves in the foot! I work in one of the offices in Hull and I must admit I do come in early (but not for much longer). I work part-time and we are supposed to start at 7.05am. I usually start at 6.25am but some people come in as early as six and those are the same people who tie up when I am still preping ,y mail in my frame. On tuesday I saw one postie finish his round at 9.25 am having come in early and used his car he asked me "are you nearly finished" when I was only half way round on mine today I saw another chap bundle his mail up at 7.05am and he was long gone before 8am. I wish these self-centre guys would see the light and come in at they normal time but there os little camaradie in our office and it seems like it is every man for himself. I am going to come in at my correct time and also do the job by the textbook to demostrate how difficult the job is.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If everyone started at proper times, used the vans and did no more than they need to, the place would grind to a bloody halt and they can't touch you for it. Our DOM says RM knows they rely on our goodwill. Why do they keep taking the piss then?

good point jonnyjava. our d.o.m tells us a work to rule would be illegal. don't see how. if we did everything by the book for just a few days r.m would be totally fu***d :cool
