There are the pouch boxes that don't need planning permission as they go on customers properties like k66yla has said.
The customer gets around £125 a year for it,it's worth looking into, some people dont mind as we've got a few going in soon.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: no pouch boxes - can i use shops? is this legal?
not that i would want a box on my property. unless one made to look like a birdhouse lol... so if i let rm pitch one in my lwan, i would get 25 quid a year. and if rm ask a council for permission and erected one on council land, rm would have to pay rates? £125? if that is the case, why cant they pay the 125 in the first place.
so, when mail is picked up in a shop or taxi firm, they arent stored in a box?

Not sure where the £25 comes from, because ours get £125.
Also they are not 'pouch boxes' as such,i've got some paperwork on them at work i'll try to put some pics up.
The only similar thing i can find as to what they look like is below but they are not as big.The pic is from argos.
There's no doors as such, the top opens.

It is basically £25 but more can be offered if neccesary. The new boxes supplied by romec are horrible. They are free standing with a plinth that takes a couple of paving slabs to increase the weight. Customers have refused them when they see them and the locks rust within a couple of months so the key gets jammed in them. We've got two of these and both have the keys stuck in them so not very secure now.

Any UNSECURED bag drop should be reported and you should refuse to use it. Return the problem back to the managers. Maybe it might even provoke them to put down their coffee or stop propping up yorks.

Re: no pouch boxes - can i use shops? is this legal?
Are you mad! They are not 'propping' them up! Do you know how much they cost, they are simply making sure that we don't knock them, or worse, get injured by a runaway york. So they are not only protecting RM property but also ensuring our safety, god bless them.IPS wrote:Any UNSECURED bag drop should be reported and you should refuse to use it. (That's sarcasm, that is.)

Re: no pouch boxes - can i use shops? is this legal?
i know about pouch boxes, we wouldn't accept pegasuss until every walk had pouch boxes [ health&safety]
we have the small grey boxes that fit two pouches in, they are free standing and fit on peoples property,
most have been offered £25 but i bet they never see it
bags can be dropped into shops but get your manager to check it first,
if they say its safe then if the bag stolen its down to the manager to sort it

Re: no pouch boxes - can i use shops? is this legal?

this box looks nicer than the one up the road. it got a nice curve lol.. ours is rectangle-about 750mm high and 400mm wide. coming to think of it, its not concreted as i thought. its in the grass, so it must have just a drive in spike
