You'd be lucky to get 3 days on a duty before moved in my DO but it does help if you're to dumb to move (or a pretty woman).
You must have been to my office a lot even though my office is as far from yours as possibe,on so many threads you take the words straight out my mouth.Good to know
its not just my officewhere some people get treated more equal than others and how the pretty girls get treated special by the managers only also easier duties.

As for your own walk in my office you are looking at 3+years for a really bad one no one wants,a reasonable 1 ,10 years , driving duty 22 years if lucky pos 25 years unless a chosen reserve who gets driving duties every week,or gets taken of own walk frequently to do driving.Hey but we are all Equal arent we ?

Or if well in CWU strange things seem to happen to you and seen this in lots of offices ,good jobs are given to you somehow that are not given to others.

haha, so true. There is one attractive young lady in our whole office (no disrespect meant to the other ladies! )..... and she gets away with absolute murders.

Hi guys

Quick update for those who requested...
Started on delivery today after 2 weeks held back at old sorting centre...quick summary, it was a brilliant shift, I started at 8am, most of the route was already sorted, my trainer went through all the necessary details that I needed to get acquainted with like dead mail, specials, saturday collections and the like. Next we had a tour of the office showing me where all the important places were. Quick break for drink before heading out for the delivery route. They try and mark the route so it pretty much goes in a circuit, usually ending up where you started, with the bag drops however you sometimes need to go back up a road you went down before but it doesn't make too much difference. Timings for shift (bearing in mind this is the first shift) start shift: 8am, time start delivery: 9230am(ish), back in: 145pm, sorting D2D: 230pm. So 8am - 230pm (6 and 1/2 hours) Not bad for a 4 hour shift :Very Happy .
Anyways, this is my first shift so i'm pretty sure it won't be so long normally - plus i was doing D2Ds. Anyone want anymore details just shout :Very Happy

Get use to the D2Ds because you will be doing them Mon to Friday, in royal mails time NOT your time , anyway enjoy it while you can because believe me it wont be long before your put on a different walk every day unless your lucky and they keep you on the same one :pray

Hiya. I thought our numbers were dwindling fast & now they have dwindled even more! On the Saturday I told them I wasnt coming back.
It wasnt the worst job I ever had, I actually quite enjoyed it. The reason I left is cos I didnt have any energy left at the end of the day to enjoy time with my kids.

I might not have been so knackered if the bags were actually within the proper weight limits & I also had quite a cr@p walk to contend with.

Anyhoo we live & we learn. If Im not happy about a job then I look for another one.

Nice bunch of people at shirley tho from who I met

Yep, it is undoubtedly a killer at first. It took me about eight months to fully used to it and I had no responsibilities whatsoever! It really shouldn't be like this though. It is as some have described on here before 'sink or swim' rather than easing you in. Still, best of luck in whatever you do next!
