A quick word because the 'usual suspects' are in this thread.
Lets stop the childish title tattle on the board.Silly little name calling. The chasing of each other. The messing around with usernames.
f**k me the list is endless, others on here do not want to see your spats.

Threads are being spoilt and are regularly going of topic.

RULES:

If someone has a different position to you please respect their right to have differing views, and enjoy yourself when picking holes in their position in a constructive way. We would much rather have a long winded well thought out argument, picking out weak points in someone's position, than have a thread full of 1 line insults.

Just because someone has a different viewpoint or political position to you, it does not mean that they are a 'Manager' or a 'Union fanatic', any posts making such assumptions or generalisations will be pulled or amended and the poster warned.

Try to research information before commenting on a persons position. This can be a grey area and we cannot stifle a persons view on certain things just because we do not agree with it. However, those who hold these views should try to present them in the most constructive way possible.

There is also a 'report post' function on the site, please use this if any of the rules have been broken.

"How much longer are you DO staff going to ignore the warning signs?"

As soon as we see them we'll believe them.

Why am I the same old, same old? I listed a well thought out, reasonably articulate and relevant post, which you automatically dismissed as it disagreed with your view. I have stated in previous threads that I believe that volumes may well be falling, but by such a small amount that it is not noticeable by the delivery postie. Any fall in mail volumes, coupled with the amount of mail actually delivered by the competition are minute compared to the actual amount we still deliver on a daily basis (I read that TNT delivered 200 million items last year, the same as we deliver every 3 days). Instead, both these are being used to drive down terms and conditions and shed jobs. By the way, I don't believe everything the CWU tells me either.

Then look and listen. There's enough information out there.

You may not be the same old same old, but unfortunately the sentiment was.
DO posties can't forever use this logic of "because my pouch is just as heavy then mail volumes can't be reducing nationally". It's both short-sighted and illogical, and (as someone on here pointed out a while back) as walks are being changed and amalgamated it's no longer any sort of pointer anyway.

:nana @ides of the coin here.If royal mail do not trunk and walksort all the mail now-that having "gone' to the competition,
Then of course some sectors, including M.C.swill see a reduction, surely? but let us not forget the postie takes it the last mile--so they are bound to see an increase? Right, or wrong?

DSA arrives palletized and is then processed in the same way as any other mail is.

This myth that DSA is somehow "not counted" in the processed figures, is just that, a myth.

None of the competition walksort mail.

I understand the walksort bit,but i was under the impression that it had to be sorted a certain way.
We get now and then 'DSA out of access' or words to that effect on some DSA mail.
Ie it hasn't been sorted properly.

No, loaded onto machines just like all the rest.

From what's been said on here, isn't that where mail is "time critical" (eg mailshots to coincide with TV ads etc) and/or just simply missed it's processing slot?

So what is the starting point for a drop in mail ? When we introduced SDD 4 years ago it was based on figures that were 2 years old. It was 8 years before that even that we'd previously had a revision. I asked what was the rise/fall in those years? Funnily enough they didn't know but these were the years that mail was increasing. So it all goes to prove the old adage "there are lies, damn lies and statistics". :hmmmm :hmmmm :hmmmm

Not really, and if RM staff as a group continue to use that little saying as some sort of defence in the future, we're all in for a tough time.

My understanding of DSA is that it's delivered by the DSA companies to the individual MCs that the mail is for eg. all BT mail goes to the NIMC, so surely that reduces one step of the MC processing.

Anyone who works in a MC can let us know if this is the case or if the outward mail never goes near a machine (except Tman who is on my ignore list so I can't see any of his posts).

Funny that you've answered them recently, though.....

See this then, ALL the DSA mail goes through machines.

Some of you DO posties must work in a little bubble. Have you NO understanding of how the mail ends up in your DO?

Obviously not which is why we are asking about DSA.

No,by the look of it,it means something else.
kingtubby wrote: Of the DSA we receive, very little is actually walksorted i.e. bundled for a specific delivery. On a typical day we'll get 3-4 boxes(approx 1000 items) of 'out of access' mail which is charged.
