Can't Sort Won't Sort
Really annoying when some of my colleagues have been on our section for years and are still unable to sort on IPS, all they can do is tip mail

Re: Can't Sort Won't Sort
the drivers who been around for about 30 years + never sort, is it because its not part of their contract. personally i think they should sort if theyre finishing at 2 hours early but then again, for the sake of our office/other offices its better if the buisinesses can still rely on us to get some of the mail before pm

It's human nature I'm afraid, people see others doing less than they do and want to know why they can't get away with it.Sherpas Rule wrote:Thee are so mnay people in my office more concerned with eyeryone elses jobs than their own. Its sad really.
I try not to do it but sometimes even I find myself wondering why I can't stay at my frame/get out early etc. but then I think that I'm only paid for 8 hours so that's all I work.

Re: Can't Sort Won't Sort
We have 2 or 3 that simply wont sort. One yesterday fell asleep at the IPS bench. Today one (Who has been there 20 odd years as he keeps telling us) was f***ing about all morning then realised that he was behind with throwing off his walk. So he left us to it and threw off the remainder of his mech. He then left 20 minutes before most of us, got a lift out by a driver therefore started his duty about 40 minutes before the rest of us. And before you say "Let the manager sort it our" We haven t had one for about 2 years now.

As much as I agree with your sentiments. I am caught between the devil and the deep bluse sea on this one. While I agree most line managers are just pointless, we do need someone just to keep the 3 tossers in check?Pinky 1 wrote:You haven't had a manager for two years ? We're lucky that the lazy gits in our office are the ones that are retiring or taking EVR. There's 3 gone so far and it's rather nice knowing you're just doing your own job rather than theirs as well.

Those jumped up office boys could hardly be described as 'managers'.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Thing is, this is the thing that winds up 75% of the people in my office. Most of the other time you are at your frame prepping your walk. Just yesterday this one bloke walks in 5 minutes late from going over the cafe. he has a bacon sarnie a cup of tea and a copy of the sun. Yep, youve guessed it. He sits down and starts to have his brekkie while the rest of us are sorting. I gave him a look and he just looked back at me and said " I've been here 21 years, I've done my share of the sorting". We are all paid the same, so we should all do the same amount of work. End of chat.
