I like this one by Billy Bragg. I think it's on You Tube:
Power in a union.
There is power in a factory, power in the land
Power in the hands of a worker
But it all amounts to nothing if together we don't stand There is power in a Union
Now the lessons of the past were all learned with workers' blood
The mistakes of the bosses we must pay for
From the cities and the farmlands to trenches full of mud
War has always been the bosses' way, sir
The Union forever defending our rights
Down with the blackleg, all workers unite
With our brothers and out sisters from many far off lands
There is power in a Union
Now I long for the morning that they realise
Brutality and unjust laws can not defeat us
But who'll defend the workers who cannot organise
When the bosses send their lackies out to cheat us?
Money speaks for money, the Devil for his own
Who comes to speak for the skin and the bone
What a comfort to the widow, a light to the child
There is power in a Union
The Union forever defending our rights
Down with the blackleg, all workers unite
With our brothers and out sisters from many far off lands
There is power in a Union.
WORDS AND MUSIC: Billy Bragg (1988)
And of course the classic:
The Red Flag.
The workers' flag is deepest red,
It shrouded oft our martyred dead;
And ere their limbs grew stiff and cold
Their life-blood dyed its every fold.
Chorus
Then raise the scarlet standard high;
Beneath its folds we'll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We'll keep the red flag flying here.
Look 'round, the Frenchman loves its blaze
The sturdy German chants its praise;
In Moscow's vaults its hymns are sung,
Chicago swells its surging song.
It waved above our infant might
When all ahead seemed dark as night;
It witnessed many a deed and vow,
We will not change its color now.
It suits today the meek and base,
Whose minds are fixed on pelf and place;
To cringe beneath the rich man's frown,
And haul that sacred emblem down.
With heads uncovered swear we all,
To bear it onward till we fall;
Come dungeons dark or gallows grim,
This song shall be our parting hymn.

I have the music for this, but cant post it here.tasam wrote:I don't have the music but here's the lyrics
PART OF THE UNION The Strawbs
Now, I'm a Union man, amazed at what I am,
I'll say what I think, that the company stinks,
Yes, I'm a Union man.
Well, we meet in the local hall, I'll be voting with them all.
With a hell of a shout it's, "Out Brothers, Out".
And the rise of the factories, fall.
Oh, you won't get me, I'm part of the Union,
You won't get me, I'm part of the Union,
You won't get me, I'm part of the Union,
'Til the day I die,
'Til the day I die.
As a union man, I'm wise, to the lies of the company spies.
And I don't get fooled by the factory rules,
'Cause I always read between the lines.
And I always get my way, if I strike for higher pay.
When I show my card, at the Scotland Yard,
This is what I'll say.
Oh, you won't get me, I'm part of the Union,
You won't get me, I'm part of the Union,
You won't get me, I'm part of the Union,
'Til the day I die,
'Til the day I die.
Before the Unions did appear, my life wasn't half as clear.
Now I've got the power, for the working hour,
And every other day of the year.
So, though I'm a working man, I can ruin the government's plans.
I'm not too hard, but the sight of my card
Makes me some kind of Superman.
Oh, you won't get me, I'm part of the Union,
You won't get me, I'm part of the Union,
You won't get me, I'm part of the Union,
'Til the day I die,
'Til the day I die.

lets hope the union get the point across to the media that the bruise brothers are spoiling for a fight and did'nt want to try and work with the union.
we have to stand up to what is going to be a dirty campaign of lies and deceit.
the goverment will have to step in and force these muppets to get back into talks sooner or later
