mail is increasing, hundreds of houses every year are being built in our area, more houses = more mail, the population is increasing rapidly, more people = more mail. The internet has increased the number of packets loads as well, the businesses on the internet rely on RM.

Lapsing officially cancelled by managment in my office today due to the traffic figures. All that drop off in mail is really taking effect. It seems to be busier this year than this time last year but of course with all those texts & e-mails being used I must be imagining it.

comments from such as Lord Mandelson to the effect that email is taking over from hard copy mail are misguided - email is used in addition to hard copy and in fact has encouraged additional communication between people who never used letters in the first place and use email so that they don't have to talk to people on the phone (likewise texting). No one I know of would rather read online magazines or catalogues when they can leaf through a quality gloss compilation in their hands and the efficiency of spam filters ensures that no direct mailer would resort to email for fear that their unsolicited items wouldn't even reach the customer.
