Re: 6 Hour Walk Shifts in the Summer
3 1/2 hours is the maximum walk time at the moment and I can't see it happening though afterall where is the prep time/break time/travelling time/pouching off time?

if this happens there will be lot of injuries postmen and postwomen with knee/legs/feet/muscles injuries. Royal Mail will waste so much money on sick pay. Sound like a wonderful stroke of genius from management.

Re: 6 Hour Walk Shifts in the Summer
Heard something on the radio the other day going on about global warming etc and how we are in for a heatwave this year (believe that when I see it!), anyway they were on about British workers will have to have siesta's for the health benefits and there is RM wanting us to stay out longer in the heat, I'm sure they are trying to kill us all off early, longer walks, no delivery tools in place so your joints are fecked, make us all work another 5 years, oh well at least they won't have to pay out on a full pension
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

Re: 6 Hour Walk Shifts in the Summer
we have been most fortunate in the last two years that we have had cool /wet summers and if we have a particulary hot spell im certain people will be collapsing wth heat stroke.its all very well taking on board the advice dont rush ,keep cool etc but as royal mail up the anti on covering duties during summer it wiil contradict a managers "duty of care"plus we will be going out in the hottest part of the day.will it take a fatality to change things?

The advice is to stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm... What time do deliveries finish?! lol

Re: 6 Hour Walk Shifts in the Summer
With the onset of walk sequencing, RM. want to create six hour delivery duties, not six hour walks.
