Of course he is. Even those of us who are no fans of Marx realise anyone leaving university with a degree could hardly be described as a fool.

Really? Never heard of the expression "educated fool" then? Many leave university with degrees of doubtful value, and it's certainly no badge of not being foolish.

Oxford English Dictionary- " fool, n, a person who acts unwisely or imprudently"

Hmm, so a degree protects against unwise or imprudent acts, then? I think not.

[Thinks of all the bankers who've plunged us into the current financial mess, and who all almost certainly have degrees  ]

Then again, that's a bit of a slap in the face to all the working class Joes without degrees; that must be where all the fools are then?
In fact, by that reasoning, 99% of RM staff are fools?

Think I've found one, anyway.... :wave

That's quite sad really.
You obviously have strong feelings or opinions on Communism, but are still unable to formulate any sort of reply other than 1) accusing me of either/or being a "management stooge" or a Right Winger, b) the old "you wouldn't understand" tactic, or c) comments as above, none of which work as a rebuttal if you're even half the committed philosophising Left-Winger you like to portray yourself as.
I can only conclude that you either don't know why you are a Communist/Communist sympathiser, or you do know, but feel the reasons too weak or embarrasing to share. Either way, it begs the question why you bothered to get involved in a thread entitled "Communism" when clearly you had nothing to add..

I really don't know why you insist on displaying your ignorance of politics on here, but I suppose you provide a certain comic relief. I suggest you read up on the meaning of the phrase 'left-wing' before making use of it. I suppose you could "Ask Allan".
Now go away and read up on the topic in hand. There's a good screw.

Case proved, then? :shhhhh

How about this drivel then? Recognise it?

What do we think of the trade unions?
For many decades, the trade unions have worked hand in hand with employers to quell rank and file militancy. Their overriding concern has been industrial harmony not social justice, and so they fail to question the most basic assumptions of the way our society is organised. The objective of many unions has been to keep British companies profitable with union consent as a means of maintaining employment.

Tsk tsk, those unions eh, what are they like? But didn't old Joe Stalin have a similar view of them?
Seems like the Hard Left are happy to have organised labour, just as long as they're organised in an "acceptable" way, but then it was ever thus.

Suppose you think this is utter rubbish and you could do better "The negation of the negation from the point of view of the negative relations inherent in it , is the only true act and spontaneous activity of all being" :chuckle
How are getting on with the tricky one? been days now and you still haven't topped it :chuckle :chuckle

Wasn't so many months ago that your posts were full of speelin mistaks, but now you've mastered the art of spell-checker you think (hope?) posters will believe that you have some (any!) sort of comprehension of Hegelian philosophy? :left:

[What's next, some quotes from Camus, or a link to MiT's work on molecular structure? How about some thoughts on Imperial College's study of Bi-polar Disorder? I'm sure you could quote a little from them too, to show what a clever and well-read person you are and we'd all believe it to be so. Honestly ;liar ]

Posting it once I could take as the usual ploy you use to white-out the thread, but three times rather draws attention to it and yourself in a negative way.
Keep it up though, as pseudo-intellectuals posting psycho-babble are all grist to the mill. :whistle

Capitalism can never operate a fair society and that goes for state capitalism which is what operated in Russia once control was taken out of the hands of the workers after the October Revolution.

Ahh, that old get out clause again.
The excusing of the abject failure of any Communist nation or state by saying "but they weren't really Communist,so it doesn't count".

Strange that the USSR and China (to name just two) both described themselves as "Communist". Still, what did they know, eh?

Capitalism has been killing the planet for the last couple of centuries

That Man has been killing the planet for the last couple of centuries is true, but saying it was the system known as Capitalism is bizarre to say the least. The old Communist Bloc, China etc have a much worse record on the environment than any notionally Capitalist countries. Hang on though, I forgot, they're not Communist, are they?

and twice has broken down into world war.
Strange that, as most historians put both World Wars down to a mixture of Imperialism and Nationalism. That said, the USSR was champing at the bit to head West in 1939 to grab as much as it could. Hang on a minute (2), they weren't Communist though, were they?

Good to still see an old-time Left wing hard-liner though. I thought most went back to train-spotting or real ale about 1989, when the truly dire state of the old Communist Bloc economies and countries was laid bare. Oh hang on a minute (3).......
it is worth remembering what Stalin wrote in 1924 " the main task of Socialism- the organisation of socialist production still remains ahead. can the task be accomplished, can the final victory of socialism in ONE country be achieved without the joint efforts of the proletariat of several advanced countries ? NO, this is impossible... for the final victory of socialism, for the organisation of socialist production , the efforts of one country, particularly of such a peasant country sa Russia , are insufficient". Stalin and Bukharin represented a ruling group which feared and fought anything that might disturb its position of bureacratic privilege . however it still had pressures from within who tried to remind them of Workers Democracy and World Revolution. this in turn lead to repressive measures against this opposition and hence the need for state dictatorship
"why should it just be the bankers, politicians and the idle rich who get all the best things ? we demand a standard of living for our members that enables them to share in the fine wines and times that the likes of Cameron and his Eton buddies take for granted " - the late great Bob Crow RIP.
