both communism and capitilism models are flawed.however the birth of communism was nurtured by the super rich looking after themselves ,millions being killed in a needless war and was generally supported by the people as an alternative.the state however ends up becoming all powerful .capitilism american style is all about greed and profit the mantra and hoping that money it is dispensed down to the proles..however both come under threat when the workers are continously abused by the system, corruption up high and a total lack of infra structure.both idealogies look at each other as the alternative.somewhere there has to be a middle ground or else the same cycle will be repeated or militarily crushed.ultimataly it is about control.

[
quote="TrueBlueTerrier"]Just because a country describes itself as a Communist state does not actually mean it is a communist state.
:arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

It's thier version of Communism; it's what they call thier political system, it's how they have defined themselves; they worship at the feet of the fool Karl Marx; the official government is/was the Communist party, but after all that they're not Communist?

:arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

To say that countries whose populations number in the billions don't actually know which political system they follow(ed) is truly bizarre.

Definition: Communism
1. A theoretical economic system characterized by the collective ownership of property and by the organization of labour for the common advantage of all members.
2. Communism
A system of government in which the state plans and controls the economy and a single, often authoritarian party holds power, claiming to make progress toward a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people.

Perhaps you are mistaking Communism as an ideology, with the Marxist-Leninist version of Communist doctrine that advocates the overthrow of capitalism by the revolution of the proletariat, that the USSR and China employed and then used to control their populations.
And perhaps you believe all the old tosh that the BCP had to quickly think up when it became clear that Communism wasn't wanted or even workable.

"Ah, but that wasn't true Communism".

Yeah right.

By your own logic then North Korea is a Democratic Republic as it describes itself as "Democratic People's Republic of Korea". After all "To say that countries don't actually know which political system they follow(ed) is truly bizarre."

See I can cut and paste to change context with the best of them.

And good luck to you, if you think it added anything to the debate.. :hmmmm

To paraphrase Belial, the old "you're either with us or against us" argument is a non-starter now, although it always was pretty facile.
The thread was headed "Communism" and started off with posters giving their views on it. If you (as an apparent believer) can't even give any sort of justification for it on a talking shop like this, then what hope for it's continued existence?

the ideology of communism is good but in practical terms is overshadowed by the greed of the few .........just like the free market economy just look at the 'leaders' of royal fail .now theres greed for you just imagine if these greedy basta*ds were in a communist run country , but there again they've screwed royal fail over anyway

Suppose you think this is utter rubbish and you could do better "The negation of the negation from the point of view of the negative relations inherent in it , is the only true act and spontaneous activity of all being" :chuckle

It's quite obvious you think the only form of Communism is Marxism. That's what a lifetime of reading and believing without question right-wing garbage does for you.
I think I'll just debate the issue with people who have an idea of the subject under discussion and leave you to worship Thatcher, Pinochet, Franco, Leighton, Crozier etc. with your management mates.

Oh. "If it's not beef then it must be pork" argument. You can do better than that.

think I'll just debate the issue with people who haIve an idea of the subject under discussion
Unfortunately, dear old Bell has long since claimed the "you don't understand" tactic as his own, so you'll need to redo that one too..

and leave you to worship Thatcher, Pinochet, Franco, Leighton, Crozier etc. with your management mates.
Now that's a combination of both the "beef and pork" argument, and the standard Axeman "you're management" riposte.
There must be more to this Wolfiness than other's recycled points, surely... :hmmmm

Of course he is. Even those of us who are no fans of Marx realise anyone leaving university with a degree could hardly be described as a fool.

You, Thorby Bislam, are obviously an agent of the capitalist running dogs or a subversive member of the bourgeoisie elite.
To post links defaming our great thinkers and leaders is an unthinkable act for someone of the working classes, and shows mental weakness on your part blah blah blah.

The Red Star and Hammer and Sickle imagery looks very jaded now too; synonymous with corruption, hardship and systematic failure, presumably.
