Tman Please do not refer to me as Judge or any name you think of especially if its an attempt to put me down. My name on here is TrueBlueTerrier, Teebs, TrueBlue or any combination thereof.

Yes in my opinion the BNP views are unacceptable as are the SWPs in some cases, but that does not mean we should dismiss all their policies and ideas just because we don't like their main aims. We must listen to even the unpalatable parties in a democracy otherwise we can no longer claim to be such.

To address your point about me exaggerating for effect (nearly called me a liar there) both the rep and deputy rep are SWP members and most of the regulars 10 -15 on our pickets lines were SWP members. Could I point out that again that part of your post was dismissive.

These days a job for life is rare and most of us have several different careers. I mean I worked in Supermarket, Department Store staff kitchen, 2 internet companies then Royal Mail.

I have been reading about it for my Social Science course for Open uni. Employers want us to be more flexible and not to stick to 9-5 or 37.5 hours working week and generous overtime policy. I believe they would like to pay and use us when necessary. They would like us to work longer hours and have longer break when it is quiet.

Problem with manufacturing they made too many cars and no one is buying them. So what can manufacturers do about this ?

Build something useful with a lower profit margin that is less environmentally destructive?

Why, is the SWP synonymous with posties, then?
Most of the active members in my local DO are SWP members,

The key word being "active" I suppose? Or are you confusing members who regard themselves as socialists with those who actually are SWP members? Or just exaggerating for effect?

3. The SWP is classed as a revolutionary party even by themselves so using the workers as pawns in "the class struggle" is hardly news its the reason they exist. Which is why I wont ever affiliate with them, however is does not mean that we should just dismiss their views and policies just because we don't like their main aims.
Ludicrous logic there Judge. On that daft premise, the BNP would be acceptable too... :arrrghhh
I think you're confusing acceptable, with having something useful to contribute. As far as I'm concerned, that BNP is totally unacceptable. But that doesn't mean that ALL their policies are distasteful. They actually have some very good policies, which should be considered by other Parties. As there's NO WAY I'LL EVER VOTE FOR THAT BUNCH OF RACISTS. And it'd be a shame if the handful of excellent policies were never put into practice. Because of their sickening main policies. :hmmmm

That's the problem with generalising, rather than looking into things thoroughly. :hmmmm

well this thread has certainly got a bit "touchy " over the last few pages !!! when i started this thread i was just trying to highlight IMO the bad treatment of Agency workers. i dont think it is no coincidence that we have many Employment Agencys [along with mass immigration] in all our big towns and cities and these Agency workers are in direct competition with people who are lucky enough to have good contracts like many postmen. stating the bleedin obvious ,but it seems beneficial to businesses to be able to go out and just get a body of workers when need be and then discard them willy nilly. now i accept that these workers know the score when they accept these jobs but if this type of employment becomes more widespread surely it has to be detrimental to society as a whole, for many reasons which i wont bother to list here. now that is the debate and i may be wrong . ok- do i have to be a member of the SWP to think that it is detrimental to society ? and does anybody wear Duffel Coats these days ? i am not a member of any Political Party but i have sourced info from their site , so rather than just saying its a load of tosh and by the way they all wear duffel coats so it must be true , lets have some substance to your posts. :hmmmm

The irony is that RM and some of these firms are paying £15 - 20 per hour to the Agencies , I've done Agency Work during John Major's insecure Britain years and some s***ty ones during his Toninesses " Things can only apparently get better " years and it's no fun , even Casual for RM before I got TC / AG was better .

I remember chatting to a guy from Middlesborough in Oxford years back and he'd run up 50 temp jobs or Agency Assignments , it was simply how things were up there . Meanwhile in Oxford there was many people who'd never been on the dole .

I wasn't in a position to pick and chose , it was better than nothing , but that's all ; & I'm sure there's people on here that can recount similar stories too .

I am not a liar ! I have been a member of three different unions during my working life and I have never crossed the line.
I'm very critical of the CWU and it's dinosaur-like attitudes, but I've always been a union member (not necessarily the CWU) and have every regard for the union concepts.
Go on then, tell us what "dinosaur-like attitudes" you refer to. And which unions you hold up as good examples.

You should start a new thread to do so rather than go off-topic again though.
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

The point he's making is that invariably unions overstep the mark then find the industry is dead as a result, ie car insustry where in the end they said "Want higher wages? Well spin on this, we can make them cheaper elsewhere". May not be fair but thats life chum and in this climate beggars can't be choosers.

Yet more patronizing drivel  Nothing at all invariable about union actions, some sell out their members on a regular basis ,the car industry is dead now with no help at all from any union and in past times surely we all now know who Red Robbo got his extra paychecks from and where he went to continue the good work.
Also ,not much point delivering mail intended for Stockport to houses in Sierra Leon . You really do fall for all that establishment guff hook line and sinker. Try thinking for yourself ,it can be fun :chuckle

Nor a pension for life after f*cking everyone else's up GORDY BROWN!. NT take the blinker's off look around and see our nation crumbling into the ground it is not socialism but capitalism that caused it to be in the state it is in at this moment in time!.

this is a quote from dennis skinner at pmqs a couple of weeks ago.

Dennis Skinner asks what action will be taken against those bankers that have run their businesses into the ground, "those Tory fat cats…" he continues, but the reaction is too loud for him to continue. The Speaker intervenes. Then: "Those Tory fat cats at the banks can't blame the trade unions this time. At another general election, they would have been described as the 'enemy within'

"we are the union" "the CWU don't do enough" "we can only win" , also drivel. I'd have more respect if there was any continuity. But theres none.

We are, they don't, it's a long game , nothing stays the same, and who cares what you think (apart from M.White who said that S. Lawson said "NT is probably the most gifted and prophetic economic pundit creation has ever seen" Or did I say that's what Lawson said to White either way it's there in cack and white so it must be true) Engage brain you will like it, :hmmmm
