The mother of a murdered postman has backed a newspaper campaign to find her son's killers.

Last week we reported how the Evening Leader had launched 'Justice for Paul' – a renewed appeal for information which could lead to solving the six-year mystery of Paul Savage's death.

Now the paper has carried an interview with Paul's mother June White in which she praises the decision of North Wales police to reopen the case.

June said: "I'm glad the reinvestigation has been launched, because it is bringing it all back into people's minds.

"I don't get up in the morning and carry the phone round with me any more. I'm not holding my breath every time I answer it, like I was just after Paul was killed, because time has moved on and I can't live like that forever.

"However, I know that something will happen at the end of this. I will never, ever let it go until I see the people who killed my baby in front of a court."

Paul was doing his normal postal shift on 4 February 2003 in Mold when he was attacked and savagely beaten. The 30-year-old's life support machine was turned off at Wrexham Maelor Hospital later that same day.

No-one has ever been charged with his murder and a £100,000 reward is being offered by police for information which leads to a conviction.

June is now hoping that attitudes have changed in the time that has passed since Paul's death.

She added: "A lot can change in six years. The people who hold information about Paul's killers have changed. They may have children of their own now and may be able to put themselves in my position.

"How would they feel if it was their child, or mother, or grandmother, who had been taken away like this?

"Getting the phone call from the police on that morning, telling me what had happened, was like my worst nightmare coming true.

"What those people did to my Paul, you couldn't do to an animal."
