If the lump sum payment depends on which part of the scheme someone is in,POPS or POSS,there appears to be a general view that if you are in POPS you dont get a lump sum.Now I don't want to throw a spanner in the works but my last pension forecast actually shows that my lump sum ( I am in POPs by the way with 22 years service) would be if I take the maximum allowed the forecast says £40,336.86 which tells me that part of my POPs pension is payable as a lump sum.I thought I read somewhere,bloke in sunday papers martin lewis financial expert said that anyone over 50 can take part of their pension as a lump upto 25% which increases in 2010 to 55 so could it be that the pension people give this lump sum figure based on the probability that most people would take it.So my reckoning is that as I am 57 with 22 years service I would recieve what my forecast roughly says for my pension enhanced to what if would be aged 60 plus 26 weeks of pensionable pay including pensionable allowances.Just to confirm a lump sum is payable a guy at my place last year to his pension at 60 and he got 24 grand plus monthly pension and is still working full time now hoping to get 104 weeks payoff.

Well if this is true then lots in for a big shock. Lots of guys in my DO are hanging in there just in the hope they get a payoff

just had bit of paper put up at work today asking who wants to be considered for redundancy just wondering if anybody could work out what mind would be.
I'm 26 and have worked for rm for 8 years.
I know it won't be alot but just intested.

You don't pay tax on redundancy payments up to £30,000.
