Re: Underpaid Items
First time I got one of these stickers on a card about a year ago I showed it to the LM, he scribbled across it and said deliver it as usual. I've been doing the same ever since - who said on the job training was dead!
btw only had about 4 of these in a year so I guess the company is down about 20p? They've made 100 times that off me on unpaid OT.

Re: Underpaid Items
yes if they dont add up then something will be noticed but there is no check for what is actually recieved at the RLB, so if the D Docket and Revenue protection figures are the same then it goes un-noticed(which i completly disagree with, there should be acountability right across the board)custard wrote:uncollected items are returned to RLBisland_boy wrote:actually they probably wont, as if the office is declaring these items as "refused" and sent back as dead letters then no one will be the wiser, there is no accountability for refused surcharge items so no deficit will appearcustard wrote:well revenue protection will soon notice if there is a massive deficit in charged items vs revenue collected
beleive me if the figures dont add up they notice
our office got done for it a couple of years ago

Re: Underpaid Items
When you get an envelope with one of those yellow "£1.06 To Pay" stickers while sorting it all depends who it is addressed to.
If the addressee gives you a tip at Christmas the yellow sticker is promptly scribbled over and the letter delivered without delay or payment.
If the addressee does NOT give you a tip at Christmas then you pass the letter to your superviser who makes out a card so that thay pay.
- that's what happens everywhere, isn't it ?

Re: Underpaid Items
Yes, RP do get it wrong, but when whoever writes out the surcharge cards writes the cards out, they should really be looking at the item. I always do and filter out the ones that have been incorrectly flagged up. Mainly because I don't want to look a t*t in the enquiry office when they come to collect the item saying "I don't know why it's been charged" etc.mclovin wrote:How is a postie stealing, sometimes the idiots at R&P get it drastically wrong, costing people money to get to the DO to collect it.
Its 6p, not £1.06, 6p.
Id give the 6p to the gaffer myself if it means one of my customers doesnt have to travel to the DO just to collect something for the sake of 6 bloody p.

So if you worked in Tesco and an OAP came to the till, YOU would decide which items in the basket you were going to charge him / her for?mclovin wrote:If they come through with the normal mail I have a tendency of scribbling it out myself and just delivering it. Charging £1.06 to a pensioner (of which there are a lot on my route) is nothing short of disgraceful.

Not really the same is it. I use common sense, and knowing my PHG and how lazy he is.DOM wrote:So if you worked in Tesco and an OAP came to the till, YOU would decide which items in the basket you were going to charge him / her for?mclovin wrote:If they come through with the normal mail I have a tendency of scribbling it out myself and just delivering it. Like I said if RM want to punish anyone it should be the sender, not the poor sod who just wants their mail.

Re: Underpaid Items
Common sense doesn't come into it. If it is flagged by RP it should be carded and treated as such, neither me, you or the locker staff should be able to decide otherwise. yes RP make mistakes, but tell me any department in any business that doesn't, these should be treated appropriately as required but not by us.
What I was getting at with the thread is that our locker staff decide which to card and which to deliver. Normaly if it looks like a card it gets delivered. But why should it thats theft, yes its not the reciever who is at fault but that another issue.

Well it's not for them to waive the rules but that's not what I was getting at. And I quite happily own up to any mistakes I make and correct any I see.tiredwalker wrote:Common sense doesn't come into it. I very often get items that aren't overweight, aren't too thick, aren't too big and don't have dodgy stamps on so why should I write out a card for that person and have to try and answer their question when they come to pick it up as to why it's been charged?
All that does is undermine the system and make us look to be money grabbing bleepers who will charge anything just to see if we can get away with it.

And you will never claim a minute more overtime than you work, and you always carry the pouch up every drive rather than leave it on the biketiredwalker wrote:Common sense doesn't come into it. @mclovin - No that is the correct way to do your job, 'to the letter' anyone not so doing is effectively robbing their colleagues and has therefore not yet evolved beyond monkeys .
If they don't know that they are making errors then an assessment of the procedures which caused the problem will never be rectified.
If it's your job to write the cards, and you are efficient enough to effectively highlight errors in the R&P then in order for self-improvement in the service should those items not be returned for reevaluation?Aprilaydee wrote:I very often get items that aren't overweight, aren't too thick, aren't too big and don't have dodgy stamps on so why should I write out a card for that person and have to try and answer their question when they come to pick it up as to why it's been charged?
