Well I don't want to appear to be "special" -" although I obviously am ;liar " - but I would have been issued with a stage 1 after having had some health problems over some years - I went to have a radium shot to kill the thyroid gland, which made me toxic to be around other people especially children and pregnant women - yes how boring was that fortnight !- I couldn't sleep with the wife for a week ( I won't go into how happy she was) - I took my union rep in with me of course because I am shy and retiring - who stated that the condition I suffered was the same as a contagious disease in theory and I would have had to be sent home and that was the mitigating circumstance. I was signed off for two weeks but as a cycle mechanic as well and because the cycle workshop is isolated and I could work by myself I fixed bikes for a week. Yes I have often wondered why I was chosen as a bike mechanic myself.

Sorry, misunderstood your post. Took me a second before I realised you were referring to the stage warnings themselves, not the tw@ts that issue 'em ! :Very Happy

We had a new manager 'imposed' on us recently who was a complete and utter control freak, liked to bully the young lads and girls in our office. One morning when we were short of staff he said he would sack anyone who refused overtime (!) so I refused, he conduct coded me and then 'awarded' a 12 month warning on my record.
I took out a grievance and won my case, record clear and he had to make a full apology which was placed on HIS record.
Stand firm, look them in the eye and don't blink!
Never back down to a bully.
spot on,stand up to them some of them have hardly been in the job 5 minutes and think they are untouchable but l they always slip up in the end and their arrogance always come back to haunt them.
Arrogance is a problem with RM full stop - they think it's a strength , but it's just bluff and bluster basically , the reality is it's their Achilles Heel . Senior Management in particular are to blame for encouraging that culture as are Middle Managers to a lesser extent .

Even CMA / AMICUS / UNITE complain about it . Tribunals don't like this judgmental and black and white attitude either . These jumped little Hitlers sound like the idiots who like to be told what think and do 24/7 .

Seen one Ex Manager who was caught thieving , he was given the option to resign but didn't take it , appealed but that failed , the IB took out a Private Prosecution , the ex manager tried to get the Court Case delayed and wouldn't plead guilty , he only pleaded guilty when he was warned it would go to a Crown Court and there would be the possibility of a short Prison Sentence for messing everybody about .

He thought the RM system would look after him , it can't anymore ; things have changed . He's divorced now , his Missus wanted to know why he needed what were trifling amounts of money on his salary .

The Managers there , think he was " unlucky " , his unpopular Non - Union son has " respect " and say he was indirectly "harassed" by the CWU .

Some think they are fireproof because of the " boy's clubs " - the Boys Clubs are just one step up from a School Bully and his mates and that's the problem , some places are glorified playgrounds , some staff are equally as bad - a mirrored culture if you will .

Unfortunately gaffers like that are fast becoming extinct.

Most gaffers now are the people who couldnt do the job properly.

Our gaffer, no matter how many are sick and how many duties he's struggling to cover will NEVER, EVER pick a bag or 2 up and do some himself.

And he's never there after 12pm leaving the PHG on his own until 2pm. One day there will be a serious accident/incident and he wont be around.

A while back I was supposed to be covering a row of a duty on overtime on a Saturday morning, the DOM support gave me the box key where the bag was. Got to the bag box, wrong key. Phoned DOM support, no answer, phoned gaffer, gone home. Ended up phoning the office coach and telling him i'd had enough and was going home. Word got to the gaffer and he was nearly home and fuming about it, finally soemone else had to get it done.

On the Monday he did his nut saying it was my fault and refused to take any of the blame for not being there in the first place. Then told me I wouldnt be getting any overtime for a few weeks and couldnt work my day off.

Soon came running the next day when he realised he was in the s**t with duties to cover.
Its along winded approach i know but if you hear of or threatened in this manner again you should write to your dom quoting the conversation where you were told you'd be getting no o/t for the next couple of weeks and ask them to explain in writing why not.
i can assure you that it is illegal to deliberataly stop or omit a volunteer from perfroming o/t, its a form of discrimination. dont mix this with s/a though
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

Mine wasn't issued and I know of a few others having covered DSM support that were not issued.

Mine wasn't issued because it was an AOD, one of the others I've seen recently was because the person having the stage one hadn't been off sick for over 3 years and they thought it was unfair given the circumstances of the sickness that had triggered the stage 1.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?
