hi guys, im new to this forum & have had problems with the dodgy Magnum shoes. I am currently off work sick with a back injury suffered as a result of a slip in January. I know there was a letter published in the courier a couple of months ago about these shoes but i have binned that copy. Does anybody have a copy of the issue with that letter in as i seem to recall that the person in charge of uniform almost admitted that they were not up to standard. I am obviouly trying to claim for my injury but need something to back up my complaint about the shoes. I would appreciate any help anybody could give me. My email address is ymick60@hotmail.com
Thanks
Mick

Best footwear forward.
With about 110,000 postmen and women delivering across the UK, the importance of safe, comfortable footwear can't be overstated. Shoes need to be tough and durable to cope with different surfaces and weather conditions, while still being comfortable and smart. Now a new range of footwear, exclusively designed for Royal Mail, is being introduced following one of the most comprehensive testing programmes we have ever undertaken.
Our existing footwear is among the best on the market, but after feedback from postmen and women, the new, unique design will be even better. Royal Mail Assessts asked two major independent test agencies - the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Shoe and Allied Trades Research Association (SATRA) - to carry out the rigorous testing. A range of sole compounds and tread patterns was tried on a variety of surfaces, including frozen ground and wet steel, with a human tester measuring their grip.
As well as a new sole design, full grain leather is being used to counter problems with peeling uppers. National uniforms manager Bob Taylor said: "We've listened to the views of our people about the existing shoes and have improved them accordingly".
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."
