Could you clarify job losses? How is this affected in your office?

Potential job losses with a Mon-Fri operation is 1 in 6 (day off cover loses their job).

Or about 17% of all staff.

Mon-Fri deliveries have been on the agenda since i started that was 15 years ago, talking at the time to one of my colleagues they have been on the agenda since he started 30 years ago, don't think we are any closer now than it was then.

With RMs constant (and savage) cuts, the only way they can achieve anymore cuts is to either move to a 5 day week or restrict deliveries to 2/3 times per week both of which would require a change to the USO (and I can't see that happening any time soon).

If I were Royal Mail why not look at getting Sunday and Monday off as long we can keep Saturday as normal (no ips)

This is possibly best compromise but I love floating week off perks.

I never work my day off anyway but my duty would be one of those affected.

They'd get the legislation through pretty quickly though if they saw some political capital in it, they might even try it as a sweetener to part privatisaton if they thought it could reduce the opposition to their current plans.
