Sick stage warning given:BEFORE INTERVIEW!!

Post by POSTMAN »

Just been sent a PM from someone who wants to keep their head down and have been asked to post this up.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I was given a sick stage 1 interview letter by my line manager the other day,i was to have an interview at the end of the week.
I happened to be talking to my rep about it out in the yard later on when the line manager came out to tidy the yorks up when he overheard me talking.
He then said to me that he had read my notes and that he was going to issue me with the stage 1 warning.
I started an argument with him about it saying you can't do that, you have no idea regarding the circumstances of my sick,we haven't had the interview yet, when he walked away again saying ,i've read it and i'm going to issue it.

Of course me and the rep then went steaming into the DOM's office to explain it all and point out that i was going to put a grievence in ect.
The DOM was shocked,or rather gutted that his lino had been busted as he was seen kicking his arse a while later.

Anyway the stage warning was sent back by the DOM and not given.

This is the scum we have to work with."

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I've never known a stage warning not to be given, no matter what the mitigating circumstances are.

Well done mate for having the backbone to take the coward on, gutless the lot of them.
We had a new manager 'imposed' on us recently who was a complete and utter control freak, liked to bully the young lads and girls in our office. One morning when we were short of staff he said he would sack anyone who refused overtime (!) so I refused, he conduct coded me and then 'awarded' a 12 month warning on my record.
I took out a grievance and won my case, record clear and he had to make a full apology which was placed on HIS record.
Stand firm, look them in the eye and don't blink!
Never back down to a bully.

never left the playground those a***holes - RM like them as they are there to effect a "culture change" / culture of fear i.e . soften up and knock the stuffing out of people for privatization , it's backward going back to the late 80's , early 90's , just produces counterproductive hate and even more them and us .

Love " sorting " these people out and there are ways and means , just have to be devious .

Unfortunately gaffers like that are fast becoming extinct.

Most gaffers now are the people who couldnt do the job properly.

Our gaffer, no matter how many are sick and how many duties he's struggling to cover will NEVER, EVER pick a bag or 2 up and do some himself.

And he's never there after 12pm leaving the PHG on his own until 2pm. One day there will be a serious accident/incident and he wont be around.

A while back I was supposed to be covering a row of a duty on overtime on a Saturday morning, the DOM support gave me the box key where the bag was. Got to the bag box, wrong key. Phoned DOM support, no answer, phoned gaffer, gone home. Ended up phoning the office coach and telling him i'd had enough and was going home. Word got to the gaffer and he was nearly home and fuming about it, finally soemone else had to get it done.

On the Monday he did his nut saying it was my fault and refused to take any of the blame for not being there in the first place. Then told me I wouldnt be getting any overtime for a few weeks and couldnt work my day off.

Soon came running the next day when he realised he was in the s**t with duties to cover.

Apparently I was the first one whoever stood up to him, in his last office he'd have the female members of staff in tears. The stupid prick told his cluster manager that he had to conduct code me to teach me a lesson, in the interview I told him that I would never back down to a bully and that 'the truth will out'.........he couldn't hold my gaze! He doesn't come near me now which is fine.
