Anyone Interested In Starting Our own Postal Company
Anyone interested in joining me in starting our own Postal Operation. I'm sick of having to deliver all the 3rd party stuff and knowing that some rich people who don't really need it are getting the benefit of us working our asses off. It does go against the grain a bit I know but I would like to see us benfiting from the profits of our labour rather than TNT etc. As Royal Mail are not allowed to compete with these muppets why not play them at thier own game but us make the money rather than the fat cats. I reckon if enough of us band together to buy shares then we can build a profitable company for our future. Perhaps one day taking on Royal Mail themselves in the delivery market and giving people and posties the sort of service we used to do. Anyone interested please use the personal messaging facility.

all very interesting, but oh so risky. my advice would be to see what happens if anything with the mandelson proposal, if this gets through parliament you will eventually be given the opportunity for this type of deal by being offered a franchise for your own delivery

Re: Anyone Interested In Starting Our own Postal Company
Then we can take over Royal Mail and cut out management :)
It could be a way for postal worker to get extra money in their job.
The people should earn is Postal Delivery staff and Mail centre staff and the collectors and people who organise the deals. So if there is 100,000 employees for post delivery area.
Use 35% profits for us, 35 % profit for pension funds and 30% for business investment ie set up and so on.
But how can we make sure it only benefits foot soldiers and not management.
Then we can eventually cut out Royal Mail

Who's gonna be the managers!!
I'm not lowering my self.......

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Good idea but where would the start-up money come from ? What banks aren't bankrupt are effectively owned by HM government. They wouldn't bankroll a competitor, would they ?
What am I saying ? Of course they would. That's what they are doing with TNT. Let's hear more, ar26.

Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

Great idea, but i beleive in reality ,little money to be made from delivery, except for urgent buisness mail in Towns and citys, residential deliveries dont see as money making especial ruarls.
money is in the big state of the art Hi tech mail centers, this market as you say is dominated by UK mail,TNT ,DHL ,ALL multi national plcs.

exactly they rely on bulk and getting costs down to the absolute minimum - RM has the same plans in a five phase scheme but with antiquated ( in comparison ) infrastructurePuppetmaster wrote:Great idea, but i beleive in reality ,little money to be made from delivery, except for urgent buisness mail in Towns and citys, residential deliveries dont see as money making especial ruarls.

What would NOT be tolerated is so many managers & a management structure that exists for the benefit of the managers in it with Empire Builders of the worst kind IF TNT get minority ownership , secondly as a result a lot of glorified vultures and parasites who probably think they are fireproof that feed the middle and senior managers would be shown the door .
unfortunately the :lfo & :cfo culture encourages all this nonsense but the bigger picture is New Labour's Ministers being equally as complicit trying to macro manage RM . :mfo knows this , that's why he's acting like a Nazi War General with a scorched earth policy .

Re: Anyone Interested In Starting Our own Postal Company
to play devil's advocate , so please don't shoot me down , has anybody considered that RM's Senior Management have thought of this too ? , seen it done , Board Members buying assets at a knockdown rate , they all took out £100,000 loans and made a racket leasing the same assets back to the private companies then became millionaires when bought out by the Nationals .brunswick wrote:all very interesting, but oh so risky. my advice would be to see what happens if anything with the mandelson proposal, if this gets through parliament you will eventually be given the opportunity for this type of deal by being offered a franchise for your own delivery
It was all deliberately done so when his Toniness took over , it would be impossible to difficult to reverse it , secondly there wasn't really any votes in it . A lot of stuff was spit into 100 + pieces to neutralize a big organized Union , just be careful what you wish for
You only have to look how bitter the Dispute was and how Union strongholds were desired scalps which is no coincidence and how a lot of RM senior managers have had to " persue other careers "

Re: Anyone Interested In Starting Our own Postal Company
If we set up as a postal operator we would not have to deliver anything. Start up money is next to nothing as we wouldn't need a network or delivery staff. We would just have to have some sales staff to go after the same companies targeted by TNT and the like, undercut them I believe they are currently quoting 22p for second class to most companies. Once we have a good few companies on board we then need a bit of money to buy some vehicles to collect the mail from Brittish Gas Sky or similar and take it to the nearest RM mail centre where we'll pay around 12-17p per letter and they'll put it into the network. then us poor monkeys will have to deliver it as we do now but if we are share holders in this little venture we'll be scoring 5p -10p per item less expenses. Think how much you get for door to door every week and this would be similar but potentially much much more. We would need some good sales people to sell our services and we would need some part time guys or girls to do some collection and delivery ( bulk) but pretty much anyone interested in joining can just be a share holder and still do thier normal Royal Mail job as they always do. I wouldn't consider offering shares to management at the moment and certainly can't see any managment material in our current managers for any positions within our company in the future. Longer term I think the ground troops at Royal Mail can do much better than Royal Mail are doing at the moment and if we can reinvest some of the profits back in then we should be able to offer a rival service to RM within a few years.

Remember seeing a Ricky Tomlinson programme where the workers bought up a mine , yeah , that's interesting , only snag is paying those salesmen and wagon drivers . That if it worked would be a turn up for the book , better than lining spivs , conmen and chancers pockets and the subordinates :lfo dangles on a string .ar26 wrote:If we set up as a postal operator we would not have to deliver anything. It's the only pit left in the Cynon valley and despite being earmarked for closure in the 80's on grounds of "exhaustion " and "loss making" it is today a very prosperous concern and good luck to them
