Not on here - I think the majority of posters on here, especially the regulars, are realists and are torn between Solidarity to the Union and feeling of being let down by the National officers to varying degrees. However, I fully believe that 99% of those with Royal Mail and on here as well support the CWU in their current campaign against Mandelson, even your good self, and if balloted would support a strike call. Whether or not they would all strike though, is a different matter.

Agree, except striking. That'll just give em an excuse to push through privatisation even quicker and we lose more business. Waste of time. No, the the only weapon left is to stop funding Labour. Its the last hope now and most of parilament backing Mandelson.

Didn't think you'd back a strike nt more like turn the other way and rather belive the crap that exudes from the 'orrifaces' of old st . Maybe we will have a hard battle but belief in the union must be upheld and hope our fight won't be in vain . I really do think mandys in a spot of bother over his interpretation of hoopers report and i do have doubt's wether it's going to be forced through seeing the dissent thats growing against it doub't it will ever happen

I don't think labour will let this die, we should have a ballot now to disafiliate why wait till its to late to stop this idiotic scheme from being passed.
If the ballot was in favour and they could see that we mean what we say, that might be the way to make them see sense.
But as usual we will pussyfoot about until its to late to do anything constructive and end up saying sorry lads we tried our best ,and we will keep on trying as long as your daft enough to keep us in power

Beats talking out of one. All very well waving the red flag but strikes have to have a hope of succeeding. I don't buy this line about holding heads high, its utter crap. No one gives a monkeys beyond the end of the street. Face facts.

I agree with Shades, the government won't let this die and as Brown probably knows he's finished politically, he'll be hanging in for his golden handshake so threats of fund withdrawing aren't going to frighten them, especially when vast majority in parliament back them. Its not about doom and gloom, its about waking up and facing the realities of life. If you want to strike, feel free but there won't be much support for one. You may well be on your own out there, head held high I expect.

But all the union do is TALK about what they ARE thinking about doing...........

Why dont they just get on with it???

Since I have been with RM, the union has done nothing whatsoever to provide me personally with anything positive.
I have even been stitched up by two union reps as they were "buds" with my dm.

The union sold us out a long time ago. I have been in the job a relatively short time and the writing was on the wall IN BIG BOLD F*****G LETTERS.

If people are going to be critical, they should make sure that they themselves ARE DOING THE JOB PROPERLY!!!!
Those people are the biggest enemy. not rm or the union.

DONT DO JOB PROPERLY = SCUM!

CWU won't be able to stop it, That kind of power is long dead. Just get ready for the revamped uniforms.

Again, it has nothing to do with heads held high its about knowing when the battle is lost and I'm sorry, but that happened after the pay and modernisation dispute. The fire has well and truly gone out on that one. Latest is CWU took out newspaper ads. Months to think about stuff like that but as always its a last minute thought. Even if this dragged on a few months, it won't be long before the public are pleading for privatisation - especially if its back to bobble hats, flasks and banners.

I'll leave you to debate on that although probably not since the power cuts of the 70s. Pre-Thatcher definately. Either way the CWU isn't carrying any weight with the government. As you know, it digs its heels in.

Since Broon is determined to push ahead with part privatisation why is the CWU not sending out the ballot papers. They have said that they will hold a referendum to disaffiliate if labour go ahead with their proposals to sell off a part of RM. So they should now be sending the papers out. Once they get the results which will be a big Yes vote then they can inform labour of the results. They dont have to disaffiliate there and then but warn labour it goes when part privatisation comes in.
What happened to CWU and Unite working together? Is Unite going to disaffiliate too?
The time has come to stop turning the other cheek, time to stop shaking our heads in bitter dismay, time to stop mumbling our angry words.
The time has come for union.

Broon might not care but you can bet nearly every last Labour MP in a marginal constituency is passing blood right about now. With the party 20 points behind in the latest IPSOS-Mori poll, they're the ones who are going to pay the price for this.

Of course, our beloved Prime Minister lives in his own little fantasy world these days, so it might not matter. According to some who know, he thinks he's actually going to win the next election if he waits it out to June next year.
