yahoosur, you seem very well informed/misinformed about the situation in an office that doesnt concern you.we have always sorted our problems internally,so whats different this time.the reason is that the part-timers in our office are fighting for there futures and now a minority has become a majority and have found there voice and now are standing up to people like you who like voicing there opinions about something they are only hearing about from other people.you probably have local ageements in your office like all offices have.we dont interfere in yours so why are you so opinionated about ours.

here a few facts for u in that so called devided office
1: it was your managers who held a ballot in your office and wrightly so your cwu rep dose and did not recognise it
2: are you realy saying that RM are only making those people who voted for the pay & modernisation agreement work there contracted hrs & the rest who did not vote for it are go home early :funneh
3: i believe that your office last year on the phase2 agreement for summer lapsing , you worked your day off for nothing . while the rest of the area lapsed only if time & workload allowed { what dose that say about staff making there own agreements}
4: as regard to the removal of the unit rep not being personal bullshit ofcourse it is , you gonae stand for rep so you can sign a deal that you personaly gain from then leave and every one else is left to tidy up your mess think not
5: you say RM are now gonae take exec action fine if the ir process is exhuasted then thats what will happen , ask yourself this why if they are taken exec action is it option2 and not option1 the outcome will be the same you will be balloted for i/a by sound of it the office aint up for a fight so why if everyone wants option1 they are not gonae implement that? wake up and see what RM are doing here , if your that desperate to leave resign
6: fact no one can be forced to buy down there hours

yahoorsur i take it your full time that would explain your lack of sympathy for any part timer wanting full time but your right you must back the union and let them negotiate what we hope will be a better deal on longer deliveries because we all know longer deliveries are coming but to finish i hope for yours and the unions sake that the number of full time jobs offered just now by RM in offices is matched by the deal struck by the union if not the part time staff who stick by the union just now in this fight will have been well and truly used to gain better conditions for the full timers

I HAVE A DREAM.......If you are a member of the Union, you follow the Union line. I have heard so called members say F"*K the union I will do what I want eg start before their time(so working for nowt) never understood that one!!
Taking their own cars on delivery, so doing a driver out of conveyance and probably putting more work onto his duty or even some drivers not wanting to take a van on their duty so they can finish early and p*$s of home without returning to the office and then that omv vanishes altogether?!! These same people moan if they are asked to do any more work in the office and guess what? they run to the Rep when anything goes wrong and they need Union backing.
If I had my way I would banish the lot to some extreme DO where everyone worked like Trojan's all for nowt and ran like ba*t"^&ds to do extra work on return to office, cos it's these same people who cannot see the error of their ways that are pulling this job down faster than the Titanic

gmzx,i will try to respond to your points and hopefully dispel some of the myths that seem to surrounding this thread.

[1]we usually have an office vote by a show of hands on rm proposals, usually conducted during wtl sessions. Some people said that was unfair as they had no say if it was their dayoff or annual leave.so a paper vote was taken on option 1 or 2.the votes i think were 40 for option 1,12 for option 2,13 spoiled or not returned.around 11 were on annual leave or sick.the office knew it was only a preferance exercise,to sound out the way the office felt.from a staff of 75 We also have around about 15 per cent non union members in the office.some off them have said they would join the cwu and thus would be eligible if a official union ballot was to happen concerning the options.

[2]regarding this point,i think you have misunderstood what has been said .there is a lot of animosity about people finishing so early most days, mostly from part-timers who seem to have landed up on the poorly balanced up walks as a result of low seniority resulting in most of them[especially the ones who are on driving duties] working longer than their f/t counterparts.i believe they hoped this would have been sorted under option1

[3]regarding phase 2 deployment.we were given the option of lapsing 2 duties each day or working one 4 hour day off to cover the 12 week period it involved.it was a personal decision but i believe most folk choose the latter option.i dont believe there was any cwu objection to this implementation.

[4]on the rep removal.i believe one of the most senior men in the office decided to go for a vote of no confidence in the unit rep as he felt the rep was not representing the majority of the office members as they wanted.as to what he is doing about it,you would have to ask him personally as to what he has/is doing about that situation.

[5]why should i resign after 22 years service.if the rm want redundancies then long serving people are as eligible as much as people on less time in the business.i dont want to go fullyinto the reasons why i want redundancy but suffice to say it concerns caring for a partner with a long term dehabilatating illness.people in my office who know me well know what these circumstances are.i certainly not going to get a big payout if somehow the list came down as far as me. the myth that i am getting evr is just that.i am only number 13 on the redundancy list.even if i was offerred redundancy it would be on tma terms not evr terms as i am not old enough to qualify for evr.as for folks saying about big redundancy payouts that is also another fallacy being bounded about.people qualifying for evr can only get 26 weeks wages[about £9.500] and pension enhancement to age 60.that pension in my case has been quoted if i was eligible would be £ 140 per week before tax.under tma terms it is statutary redundancy terms and no pension enhancement.re finbar,i dont even know who he is as he has introduced himself under his net name.Sorry for making this reply so long winded but too many people on here are vilifying others without knowing the full facts.

still fact is at the moment it is cwu policy that no agreements are given to any bussines plan savings, the office down the road you talk about is yes on a 4.5 hr del but let me point out that this was a decision that your branch had made to go into this at that time, RM did not propose this for that office, infact they were going to implement ex action on a 3.5 hr del, and that office was balloted for industrial action with a resounding yes vote, infact the cwu won a lot of concesions for that office compared to what RM had wanted, it was not conducted soley localy with just staff and local manager infact there was a planning team from RM who conducted this on a 12 stage process with your area rep, who put a lot of hard work into it, RM now want to withdraw the planning teams and let your local managers do this themself, bet he could not tell you what the first stage is of the 12 stage process but that wont be surprising, that is a very dangerous road to go down, if del spans are going to change we need a national agreement on this something that RM ain interested in doing to protect you and your fellow workers, again ask your manager if they are taking ex action why aint they forcing in the 4.5 del RM dont know where they are going with this they are looking for a 10% budget cut typicaly this is the way they think they can achieve this again without thinking of the cocesquenciesthat will come later when they will have massive cut offs, if this del span is going to change then you have to let the cwu nationaly get a deal on this you will probaly find tma/evr will still be there and if done right yes partime will go to fulltime, what your rush? oh buy the way have YOU signed the petition to get rid of your rep? as for a vote of no confidence so what your rep dosent have to resign just cause your office dont like cwu policy thats tuff, maybee ill get a petition for brown and co to be removed cause i dont like what there doing to our bussiness , think your rep should have a vote of no confidence in his members cause you all want to stabb him in the back either way you cant remove him and well done to him for standing his ground

Im the rep , where we have agreed the 4.5 hr del spans , at the moment things are a bit tough to say the least. There are a lot issues burning at the moment , which i will keep you updated on, once i have tried to resolve them , if anyone has any questions , please post on here and i will get back as soon as i can . But let me make one thing clear .

I WOULD NOT ADVISE ANY OFFICE TO GO INTO THESE PROPOSALS WITHOUT CWU INPUT OR ADVICE

IT WOULD BE VERY DANGEROUS TO THINK THE CWU DON'T HAVE YOUR BEST INTERESTS AT HEART HERE

I have issues that need to be resolved soon, and will be taking advice from the area rep and the branch

Will keep you updated .

I wouldn't put things on the open forum, it's best to use the PM function for that. :Very Happy

DarryBuncan you have a vested interest in getting the savings voted in because you have admitted you are wanting out. What about those remaining? 13 PT to go FT according to your post but in a staff of 75 that still leaves 62 voting for something which in your words will add somewhere between 45 minutes up to 2 hours onto rounds. How are the rounds going to be worked out? You will need 2 posties per van going at the same speed. The faster ones will be knackered but ok doing this but the slower ones will struggle. What support will they get from the DOM do you imagine? Diversity needs to be applied and common sense also to stop some posties getting bullied from the DOM with those proposed changes you want to vote for. What about toilet breaks? How long do they get that is added to the delivery time or do they have to cross their legs and soldier on. If you look at some posts both on RMC and PMC you will see that in some offices managers are bullying staff into working beyond their time because pegasus has said that the round was correct and therefore it is the posties who are at fault. The whole concept of voting in option 1 or option 2 are fraught with dangers to those who remain and would need to be studied and tested at each stage of the rounds being done including a trial once it has been done but hey why should you care you only want to get out and dont care for the remaining staff who are left to plod the streets into early evening.
Stick with the CWU and let them sort it out bit by bit. The 4.25 deliveries may well happen but for the staff who dont want evr why rush and put extra on them. Have a look on both forum sites and see how well pegasus is working in other offices. Learn about pegasus so that you can help make the rounds fair if 4.25 dels are to be implemented. take on board the 2mph that RM have publicly stated and not the 4 mph that pegasus work with. Too many chances to be shafted by going it alone without the CWU so leave it for now and work with the CWU rather than against them.

Well said Broxi51. If everyone sticks together the Royal Mail management will have to make national agreement and we will all be working from the same plan and no one will get ripped off. It will also mean that EVR's will be available still cause if they are justified now they will still be there after agreements. Who knows we may get a pay rise or/and a shorter working week. Guys play the long game its better for everyone, and remember managers are targeting the weak, vulnrable and people who gain advantage to try and split the Union and Staff.

Heard today that the certain DO in Fife are no longer getting the choice of options. Management have told them that they are not allowed out until 10am. Causing a lot of grief apparently but hopefully it is being directed at management and not the CWU.
