I have personally experienced bulling and harrasment inside RM, (currently filed a b and h case against a manager) and witnessed it! Discrimination as well.

You get singled out in our office if you break off, But not of course, If you complete (rather than break off).

Mind you, a while ago RM managers had lots of posties to choose from to to any break offs (or any other general O/T for that matter).Then people woke up to what scum managers were really like (Questioning O/T hours, and in some cases, crossing off/deducting O/T hours already completed)

These days, such is the negativity towards managers in our office, that only a few people make themselves availible for O/T and managers are looked upon with such disgust, disdain and much mockery.

Allow me to give you a exmaple or 2 of the amateurish attitude of our managers, One time a driver complained that the mirror was faulty on his van, and it neeeded replacing, when he told the manager, the manager told him to steal a mirror from another similar van because "most mirrors from similar vans will fit"

Recetly we has a lady postie complain that a customer had flashed to her, when reported to a manager, rather than do the sensible thing and tell the lady postie not to deliver at his address, the seemingly unconcerned manager just brushed it aside and told the lady postie to "call the police"!!!!

You couldnt make it up...

It was very difficult for me to tell my manager in the first place so it's very wrong that they didn't do anything else to support her.

Managers are the same all over, bullying people, ignoring their responsibilites for H&S basically anything they can do to make sure they get their bonus. I'd be careful about the B&H procedure because it's done by managers for the benefit of managers and all that will happen is you lose and end up on the conduct code .

I have a feeling that nothing will change until someone commits suicide because of the way they have been treated and then they'll only pay lip service (like they have in the past).

I had a colleague who decided to leave RM and although it was because he had a better job to go to, he pointed out that he had been bullied and harassed by other members of staff. The managers at our place were very supportive of him and that helpline place wanted him to take it further.

However, he couldn't be bothered because he wasn't really leaving for that reason.

DP, Agreed, as Ive said on another post, the B&H procedure is a shambles and a joke, 'managers investigating managers', as you said, is done for the benefit of managers, what other company would have this unfair and unjust system?

I recall last year being a witness in another B&H complaint in our office, after i gave my witness account to the investigating manager, i later saw him laughing and joking with the same manager the B&H complaint was against in the office!!

Is it any wonder peeps are reluctant to go down the B&H route!

Yes, the Manager's attitude was deplorable. He/she, should have taken the Lady Postie to the nearest phone, and encouraged her to dial 999. This sort of thing should be dealt with swiftly, and severely!

Just telling her to phone the Police, is not enough. she wold have needed some support, and encouragement. It's not an easy thing to deal with.

And no, it's not an easy thing to deal with. I felt for ages like I'd done something to encourage it but I knew I hadn't because I was just sat there. Turns out he did it to another girl a few months after and neither of us knew about the other incident until after he was dismissed.

As things stand the lady postie doesnt deliver to the address anymore, and rightly so.

But as previously said, managers should be more supportive and understanding of these serious matters, instead of shrugging it off.

999 isn't just for life threatening situations. It's also for any serious crimes, like coming Home to find your Home has been broken into, or as in this case: a sex crime (flashing). It is there so that the Police can respond as quickly as possible. It gives the offender less time to think of a way to talk himself out of the situation.

The fact that the one who exposed himself to you, later did it to someone else, just proves how important it is to deal with them swiftly. Their kind, rely on the fact that it is so hard for their victims to report it, to keep getting away with it.
