Royal Mail Shoes
A mate has just phoned me from Farnborough, Hampshire and he just got a pair of Royal Mail shoes for £4.99 from a shop. He didnt say what shop is called but he said they had royal mail on side of the shoe written in black. He looks like they are trying make a profit out of the old shoes and give us the s**t new shoes.

And yet we can be punished/sacked if found selling our uniform because it's a security breach.... And then you can go to that government surplus website and buy the uniform from them anyway!!
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?

Re: Royal Mail Shoes
Those Magnums are dire, surely H&S risk?????
Very slippy on tiles, manholes, leaves, wet, grass, composite concrete slabs....everywhere...
Have there not been loads of accidents on duty since those things were introduced?
And from the looks of this thread, they've gone and been replaced?

Now tell the truth they are much better, you've just got to look at the new pretty pattern on the sole to tell that.disgruntledpostie1 wrote:They've been replaced with..........................................Magnumskrussel wrote:But replaced with what ? Re: Royal Mail Shoes
In 14 years I have never once wore Royal Mail issue shoes, utter utter shite.
In fact now the only thing I wear RM issue is shirts and pants.

Re: Royal Mail Shoes
DM shoes are great, comfortable and safe, must have cost RM too much to supply them (but it doesn't matter about our H&S).krussel wrote:Oh great magnums again![]()

Re: Royal Mail Shoes
I'm on my fourth pair of magnum boots since January 2008 they're comfy enough but thats about it. The soles are too slippy to start with, and they wear down really quickly, and then fall off - and they don't keep the feet dry
the ones before the magnums (were they DM's? ) - one pair of those lasted me 2 YEARS
so a quick sum:
2 years = 1 pair DM's
2 years = 8 pairs magnums
they must be getting the magnums for 2p a pair
( * * * will just add, our manager won't let us wear our own footwear as a guy skidded wearing his trainers and nearly broke his ankle * * *)

Re: Royal Mail Shoes
I've just ordered my first uniform, and can confirm that the shoes are Magnums. However, I talked to my boss, and he said it was alright if I wanted to keep wearing my black DM's. Awsome. I can also confirm (through 16 years of experience) that DM's are the most comfortable shoes ever made.
