DOM Supports

Post by mclovin »

Does every office have one?

Ours currently does half a walk and his DOM support duties so all in all 20 hours per week on each.

Now, when those upstairs asked for our gaffa to take out 143 hours in this round of savings/cuts, I suggested he get rid of the DOM support immediately as now he has time to do his own work, thats if he bothers to hang around until after midday.

Now I hear its going to swing the other way and the DOM support will be in the office all the time and his walk will either be done by a part-timer or absorbed into other walks, and the gaffa can do even less than he does now while we slowly kill ourselves.

Its nothing short of a disgrace.

Ahh DOM Support or dogsbody as someone scrawled on the notice when the chance at this fine job came up a while back :funneh..
Worked in a couple of offices, one does have one, the other; well it kind of had one on and off (staffing levels permitting) although it was never called DOM support and it did involve some delivery aspects..

We've 4 posties who work in the office, I think the jobs they do are, annual leave, sick leave, putting the D2D's out & payment, bike repair for the SPDO's, budget, OT, BR's, Cage, none of them do a delivery. So in my office we have 1 DOM, 1 head LM, 1 rural LM & 7LM's & 4 supports. :confused
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

We don't have a DOM support yet another office I've covered as DSM support does. I did wonder why they had one that did the same work as our line managers and PHGs/locker staff.

Then again, we do sorta have a DOM support but he's the union rep who's a PHG, does the overtime stuff, D2D payments, DODR etc. I don't think he'd like to be called DOM support with being a union rep.
Does this rag smell of chloroform to you?
