spot on stand up to their threats and duty your duty properly , work to your time and their is nothing they can do.dingo wrote:As we have always done local offices , Branch`s and divison fight it through industrial action and we campaign to have a national Industrial action ballot. Royal Mail and the Government do not want widespread industrial action at this juncture as they try and force a joint veture in.
However if Royal mail think they can get away with implementing their plans without a fight then they will. However in the areas they know they will get a fight they normally back off.

I've been told by a colleague, that hours can be reduced, as long as they give you 90 days notice. This is supposedly, by law, can anyone confirm this?
I can only please one person per day.

Not sure about the 90 days notice thing but the YouGov website might help http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/ ... G_10028079" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Dynamo 2 wrote:antsinmepants wrote:Hardly, if your'e on a full time contract.

Hours can be reduced by an employer if the need exists but they can't cut peoples hours and then make up hours with OT, I'm still of the opinion that RM are breaking the law with their PT contracts but making people work FT hours without the additional benefits.

I warned of this when I first joined a few years ago. After the 2003 strikes Crozier said why take out operational frontline roles when we can take out non-operational roles first. That gravey train is now almost completed. I know of many non-ops people who have left and I would suspect ther eis very little left apart of those refusing to leave under voluntary redundancy (possibly those lay about people you see in offices, though under European human rights you can't force someone to do a role they are not primarily employed to do). Next will be frontline staff again, part-time hours etc....
