No. 86/09
Ref:jb/3.1/09/an
Date: 5th February 2009
TO: ALL BRANCH SECRETARIES
Dear Colleague,
PALESTINIAN REFUGEES OF IRAQ
Attached are copies of documentation in respect of the plight of Palestinian refugees displaced following the invasion of Iraq.
Joanne Lawton, a former member of the YAC and a current member of the Tyne and Wear Clerical Branch and the Northern TUC Executive, is intending to participate in a trip to Syria in March 2009. Joanne is seeking assistance with the funding of this trip and the purpose of this Letter to Branches is two fold. Firstly to alert Branches to the severe problems faced by the refugees and secondly to seek financial assistance to enable the planned visit to become a reality. It is hoped that real change can be delivered and the daily lives of the refugees enhanced by the efforts of Joanne and her colleagues from the Northern TUC.
Branches should contact Joanne directly at :

Is this a case of 'Light the blue touch paper and retire'
with everything else that's going on at the moment with our jobs, some people still think it's OK to arrange/go on a jolly than to look at what's really important.

DGP, she is telecoms and not postal, different employer from us.
Did you notice this bit as its clear from it that the term jolly is simply incorrect for the cuba trip !!!!!

Head of International Affairs
Do we really need such a job within the CWU? If so what should its remit be?
Thats a topic for a juicy debate

Of course if the job is up for grabs then I'm willing to ignore my misgivings for a few 'fact finding missions' every year for my work

If I was to cohabit with a Dutch girl would that count as an International affair - if so I want money for that too
