Hello,
I know there's no agreement.
Is anyone else experiencing managers sending you home because of the weather conditions & then saying they will either stop your pay, or bank the remaining hours to be worked next week.

POSTMAN wrote:CWU HQ are receiving numerous reports and enquiries that as a result of the severe weather conditions, Royal Mail Managers are attempting to insist that in cases where our members are being sent home early from work due to unsafe conditions for delivery, collections, road services etc, the Pay & Modernisation Agreement and in particular the flexibility clause within that agreement, is applicable.
There is no provision within the Pay & Modernisation Agreement for the clawback of any time as a result of what is tantamount to an 'act of God' i.e. the severe weather conditions that the UK is currently experiencing.
We have had further reports that some Managers are attempting to have our members take annual leave, make good the time, or even in some cases Special Leave 'C' (unpaid) where they could not attend work through no fault of their own. Once again, our representatives should be clear that this has not been agreed with the Postal Department at CWU HQ.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Postman, I shoved that LTB at the DOM this morning & made sure everyone saw/knew about it.
I didn't bank hours, but me & one other lad walked out (when told to go) while the other gutless halfwits i work with stayed & made a choice as said in first post.

Re: Bad Weather & BANKED HOURS!!
We get treated to this every morning since the snow hit, only we get " i can't send you home but if you go home of your own choice the hours will be clawed back" he's also telling those that couldn't make it in they may have to play back the hours, take a days A/L or or even unpaid leave.

Re: Bad Weather & BANKED HOURS!!
This is where we are at now isnt it.
A statement from headquaters stating that there' is no agreement' to claw back hours due to the severe weather, yet local DOM's are taking executive action by forcing their own version of said agreement.
As Funked states the halfwits who co-operate and make it easy for managment to implement actions against them will live to regret their yellow bellied ways and be left with a job with few conditions and rights worth having.
I think its worth saying support your local Reps, without them you have little.
Post Offices,Mail centres, Nights, Hours, seniority, pensions all attacked and ruined in the name of profit.
When and what will it take before we take note and act?

Re: Bad Weather & BANKED HOURS!!
Well i've stuck to what the LTB from Dave Ward said & am now being threatened with my wages stopped.
This issue needs to be got a grip of quick as members are now being harassed to stay out until they clear, unpaid, under the illusion they owe hours.
