How do I get a job as a sorter/postman?

Post by jimbob »

Hi guys.

I wonder if you can help me.

I've tried looking at the Royal Mail's website, but they have very little available.
I've tried asking at the Job centre but they also have nothing.

I live in East London.
How do I get a job at Royal Mail? I just don't know how to do it. Any help?

Thanks.

All vacancies are advertised on the Royal Mail website only.

http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/erec ... d=16000165" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I don`t expect you`ll find many vacancies at the moment due to the current situation with the company.
Good luck anyway.

My advice..look elsewhere its not a good place to work for you will be given a poor contract of employment and it wont be worth the effort and money..ask in these forums or have a look for yourself before decidng..biggest mistake my friend ever did was joinin the RM..he now works for Rolls Royce..shot

I've just checked for jobs on there with my postcode (North London) within a 50 mile radius. About 7 jobs came up and only two of those are for postman. One is in Fleet, the other in Colchester.

Very different from when I was applying last year. It took me about 2 months to get called to interview but I remember loads of positions near me available every time I did a search.

:nana This used to be a job we all dreamed about, It wasn't unusual to have to wait months or years, to be taken on, now we all want the quickest way out--However, if tyou are determined you want a job in this sector, have a sly look and see what jobs our "Competitors' are offering,
you may just get in the back door!!!

:nana P.S If you goolgle carefully, you will see that T.TN.T seem to have a 10.000 vacancies-the also seem to both use
A 'Premier Employment Agency' to recriut staff! Is 10.000 vacancies not rather o lot in this time of mass unemployment.?

10,000 vacancies @ 1 hour per vacancy isin't really that much.

Keep looking at the Royal Mail website, but there's not much chance of finding anything local. Currently there are about fifty jobs advertised across the country, through most of last year it was about fifty PAGES of jobs advertised.

Don't forget to look at job centre listing.

I'm afraid, P/T will be all you might get. In other words, you'll be expected to cram 40 hrs work into a 20 hr week. My advice, look elsewhere for gainful employment, for you won't get that with Royal Mail.
