Re: this months courier
The bit that made me chuckle (although perhaps it shouldn't have done) was the bit where the postie gave first aid to someone. The story was building up as if he'd saved this guy's life and then it was like "sadly, he later died". Not quite what I was expecting to read but well done to him for trying!
Also, why don't we have any half decent offers? We don't have English Heritage sites in Wales (perhaps cos they're English?!). I can't afford, nor do I need anything from Samsung, Apple etc. I don't need a hearing aid, gym membership, hotel accommodation... Other companies have things like BringMe where you can get discounts off play.com for example. I don't have the money to be spending on what I would consider luxury items such as those listed. Play.com however is affordable and has more to offer.
Anyhoo, whinge over.

ID Badges made me chuckle. Been in the job 15 months, had my photo taken and still not been issued one.

Re: this months courier
I read the letters to see if anyone slags off RM. Good crop this time as they all had concerns and questions. They must have run out of "such a good place to work", "Flexibility is a good idea" and "we are a happy office" letters, probably need more temps at Courier HQ to write them.

Best bit was the guy from Hyde questioning the right of appeal over Stage warnings.
A typical responce was gleaned from some pratt...The reason we do not offer right of appeal at the warning stage is that there is no penalty to complain about.

I think its great as it goes very well in the cat tray, made for it, fits like a glove. Very absorbent too.
Being a bit more serious i stopped reading it a while ago as it just made me mad and gave me indigestion.
The cats now show appreciation in there own way.

5,512 number of days last year lost at Royal Mail
to animal attacks
Was what focused my attention and I note from the front page that a new animal harmless deterrent spray is being trialled at Rochester DO in Kent - PET CORRECTOR.
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

Totally agree even less shite than normal!.Had to laugh at the number of Happy smily faces, are all these on Final Warnings ?smile or else!
Did read again letters are falling, but for the first time Packets are increasing.
I Beleive when they say letters are decreasing they are refering to stamped mail? is this correct. and of course misleading.
Their HAS BEEN i beleive a substantial increase in Catalogues and mail sort, not too mention Light Bulbs, cat food ,Nappiesin addition to packets.WhatAbout Amazon, the amount of Amazon packets we deliver daily.

Re: this months courier
The number of letters being posted is going down but the bags are getting heavier. They can't justify saying we should do more work cos we've got less mail. It's easier to move at a faster pace when carrying a bag of small letters than a bag of national trust/saga stuff!!
I've also seen a huge increase in the amount of parcels we deliver. I'd even go so far as to say they've doubled in about a year. Then again, a lot of that is the delivery guys banding up a load of packets for the same houses.
It was nice of them to finally admit that some work has increased though, haven't we been saying that for ages?!
As for the pet corrector thing, you might as well just tell the dog "NO!" in a firm voice if all you're trying to do is distract it's from it's current behaviour. At the end of the day, I'm still not going anywhere near a property if there is a dog loose so what use is a canister that makes a loud hissing noise? I have a dog myself and a loud clap of the hands usually works when he's being "annoying".

I am researching this as to my mind the act of issuing a warning is a penalty in off itself, especially if as they say all sickness absences are treated as genuine. Anyway it goes against natural justice as the current policy means we have to prove our innocence to avoid a stage warning, rather then them prove guilt or complicity before they can.
