So what if a person cannot do a walk due to medicals reasons etc etc , and they dont want to drive due to medicals and stress what happens then? What if no inside work going?? what then?

It dont leave much for them to do then mads i would have thought some sort of ill health medical retirement could be on the cards.

Yea , thats what i thought also Johnny. So a person so long as they have put it in writing for whatever reason , they then dont have to drive? can they force you? Does it matter a persons reasons?? and weather they agree with the reasons or not?

say you are unfit to drive you need glasses and unless they buy you a pair of designer specs no spec savers s**t they can ram it

so, a person is a walk postie and has been for a long time, but due to health cannot do a full duty, and for either it be health reason or whatever we cant be forced to drive ??? If it has to be the case of retire then its only for the safety of the postie and other members of the public.

So then they cant just sack you or take down the conduct code to dismiss if refuse to drive?

Its all about why you are refusing i guess mads,lets say Royal Mail trained someone up to be a driver,which aint cheap nowadays,and then after say 6 months that person says i dont want to do driving any more,unless they have a very good reason ie have a bad accident or are on some sort of medication which will affect there driving then i dont think Royal Mail will be to happy.

JP, when you say train someone up, i take it you mean that they pay to teach you to drive and put you through your driving test? or do you just mean 3 days training for a rural duty?

Thought that well then if they aint done that then its no big deal, if a 3 days training has been done only but no test or anything then they are not out that much money.Thanks JP.

I would say yes under the flexibilty agreement, unless there was any genuine reason why you couldn't or shouldn't do it.
I know that they can't make you drive if you have never driven for RM and never taken a medical etc... I have seen many ex drivers who are now walkers, wrenched off their duties to cover a rural when sickness is rife. If you really don't want to drive for RM, just go to the docs and get a note saying you should not drive. Make up something, like you are having dizzy spells or something.

Or better still don't bring your licence in for checking on the 6 month check. End of...
