I dont think its about that mate,its all about keeping us in a full time job,automation could cut indoor hours big time,if it does then you may need to increase outdoor work to make up the lost indoor hours.I myself do not want a longer delivery span,3.5 is long enough,but i want a full time job as well so im that we get a shorter working week(35 hours)to enable this.

Its becoming increasingly clear to me that we need to look at using modifications to the postal services act to improve IR and force RML to talk to us and abide by aggrements etc. Get it built into the contracts of senior management and link their pay to improved industrial relations.

Well - lets look at the line up = Hooper, Mandelson, Royal Mail, The Government of the day on one side and the rebel MPs, our membership and the CWU on the other - arse kicking contest and one legged man springs to mind

I agree we need to keep full time jobs but longer delivery spans will cause a lot of senior staff to struggle to stay in the job. As for a 35 hour week I think given the current cost cutting climate that is a nothing but a dream. We all want a job but not at the cost to our health

My lad became a vehicle technician apprentiship. At induction big boss said that Vehicle service was to become a major part in the future. Was talk of removing all, ye you heard correctly! All bikes off delivery!! To be replaced with HCT, electric HCT, and big push with electric vehicles. Smart cars were also mentioned! This is because our post bag is expanding with parcels/packets (our internet saviour!) and they need a solution. Yes it will cost but offset that by 4-5 hour deliveries (thats a saving of 40% for the business) and suddenly all things are possible!!
