Has anyone heard any news about afternoon collections? I'm due in at 11 for cut offs undelivered rounds etc as its my day off but i'm doing collections this afternoon with a 40 min drive to the mail center at the end through country roads!! Hopefully they'll tell us not too as we are a very rural place!!

we were sent home today, after we sorted what mail was on the benches and prepped our walks. anyone else have the same luck? i was home by 9am. i love you mother nature/global warming

Yep, Twickenham closed about 10am, prep and sort till 9.30 or so then allowed home, 6"-9" of snow, paths and roads too dangerous for deliveries today. Looking at Tuesday, it could well be the same story down here in West London.

We came in,god knows how the work got down,we prepped and fecked off,tomorrow much the same no doubt.

I've never heard of snow putting a stop to deliveries before, never. It must really be chucking it down South.

Yes it's really bad,no buses,no trains,no schools open ect,and it's snowing really heavy as well.

Are TFL going too waive the congestion charge in London since their is no transport in London?.

I doubt that there will be many cars getting into Central London either.

Boris johnson has said congestion charge will be waived and you can get a refund if you have paid!.

It was not to bad when i went out this morning here in sunny Kent,a bit on the car and paths,but the road looked ok,motorway,not bad untill i got to the M25,down to 1 lane but driveable at 40mph.Got to Sidcup and Eltham and it was covered,really deep on the pavements and side of the road.Decided to carry on as there was not much traffic and would be in by 06.00.Got in about 06.20,about 10-15 others were in but no managers.The Dom then phoned,hed had an accident but was ok,car was damaged so he jumped on the Tube and got in about 07.15.We had to sort what work was there and prep our own duties,which we did but then area manager said we had to prep all other duties This did not go down to well as we had heard on the radio more snow was forecast and the buses were not running.Area rep was trying to make management see sense and let us go once it got to about 10.00.They agreed,Dom told us if we can come in at 06.00 tomorrow,or go to your local office if you cant make it.Fair enough Dom.He thanked us all for our efforts to get in.That is only the 2nd time in 23 years that we have not gone out and done a delivery and the worst snowfall i have seen in London for a long time.

all of HA/UB offices were told no deliveries today....prep all walks including those who couldnt get in....make sure all re-directions and deads were done then it was hometime.....could be the same tomorrow

6 inches generally here in Huddersfield, 1 foot in some places. Did whole delivery and had no problems. Got in on time and done on times as well. Must be that we are used to snow unlike in the smoke.

That's what my OH tells me anyway. No wonder I'm no good at parking...

We only had a sprinkling (of snow) this morning and our deliveries went out no problem, unlike when we had the ice a few weeks back. Couldn't even get to some rounds then, roads were inaccessible.

so if we attempt to get to our usual office and cant make it we ring them and its acceptable to say you will go to the nearest one you can get to safe??
