I've never known deliveries in my office to be cancelled due to the weather, they always make us go out and see what we can do. The managers seem to assume because the town is clear of snow/ice everywhere else is  When we had bad snow down here a few years ago we all got sent out, it was really dangerous, I had to put empty mail bags under the wheels to get some traction and then it took 3 hours to get back to the office (4 miles) the roads into town were gridlocked and all the public transport was cancelled and RM still expect us to deliver!
I expect we will get told to go out on Monday even though severe weather has been forecast, can they make you go out in severe conditions??

I'm a little concerned at the prospect of delivering in the snow...

I would much prefer NOT to endanger my life or anyone elses that may encounter ME ploughing into THEM or their vehicles/property.

Surely if the delivery officer does not feel safe and comfortable with proceeding with the delivery, could they refuse to do it? Or can RM force you to continue even if it is deemed DANGEROUS weather conditions? :hmmmm

You go out and spend the entire day shuffling around in the snow (at speeds that would have snails telling you to hurry up) and bring back whatever you can't deliver. :Very Happy

Same with Brighton, all preped, including those who didn't show, then home at 10.00.

Not sure what will happen tomorrow if it is the same weather, three days worth of mail to deliver on Wednesday?

I went to my local DO. All staff had been sent home.
Manager said he would expect them to make it up tomorrow.

what happens when you've got to deliver double amount of bags cos of the bring backs ? Are we then entitled to throw bags back ?
