Incompetence?
I got my payslip Saturday and opened the bugger to find I had been docked just over 80 hours which I was not too please with. I went in today and handed my wage slip to my manager and asked him to sort it out. He said that due to me being ill on the 15/16th of Jan it would be because of the cut off date and Parcelforce preusming that I would be off for the rest of the month. Okay, fair do's. So he rang me later that day and said he spoke to someone and that an abatement would be arranged and would take 3 days or so. All good so far. Knowing what the managers are like at my depot I rang wages myself and spoke to a very helpful person who told me that as far as they were concerned I was still off sick and was not and am not currently getting paid because my manager has not followed the procedure for letting the wages people know I was back in. The guy on the phone also asked if the mangers were any good at my depot because he got the impression that when the manager rang in he did not really know why he was ringing up in the first place. I give up. Last week I was being made or trying to be made to work past my 40 hour contract. Apparently becuase everyone else works from 7 til 5 (8 hours plus 2 hours SA) I should have to do it as well. When I confronted the manager about this I was told he doesn't want anyone working for him that cannot or does not want to do a 10 hour day. To me this is classed as a threat and harrassment.

That's Parcel Force - and a lesson to the rest of us as to what happens when you're on monthly pay .

Actually, that's the good thing about monthly pay, I'm guessing that he got an advance in time for normal pay day. If it was weekly he wouldn't have been stopped as much but it probably wouldn't have been sorted for pay day. It doesn't matter if you are weekly or monthly paid, if your manager isn't doing their job then things are going to go wrong.Lounge Lizard wrote:That's Parcel Force - and a lesson to the rest of us as to what happens when you're on monthly pay .

Re: Incompetence?
You can't be forced to sign up for S/A, and if he continues to pressure you, just withdraw your opt-out from the 48 hour maximum working week (assuming you opted out in the first place). Without that opt-out, any attempt to get you to sign up for 10 hours overtime a week, would be a clear breach of Employment Law. So you would have grounds to have disciplinary action taken against him.smok3y666 wrote:I got my payslip Saturday and opened the bugger to find I had been docked just over 80 hours which I was not too please with. Re: Incompetence?
My manager hasn't asked me to sign the opt out form, I haven't even seen it. I had to sign one in my previous job at another firm but so far I have yet to see one with RM.

Re: Incompetence?
Then it would be illegal for you to work more than 48 hours (average) per week. And as they want you to do 10 hours S/A, that would mean 50 hours EVERY week. They simply can't offer you the S/A in the first place.
