TUC

Post by CORTINA »

Hello everyone ..my first posting.

My point is of the TUC, does anyone know what the function is of the TUC, as there seems no TUC media reporting for many years, apart from the TUC Congregress each year.

The sheer lack of any talk to support the may unions problems publically makes me wonder if they have fallen asleep or have gone on 11 months holiday each year.

The farce of RM delivering mail for TNT etc for a loss over many years, and the fact that TNT is been given the green light to be considered to be involved with the running of RM. The fact that the government appear to assume that other countries can come and run our RM and other services, gets very little reaction on the media from the TUC, who should be banging the drum for the workers and commonsense.

It appears the tuc and unions act like lemmings and acept all that is thrown at them, and acheive very little over the past 10 years. The enconomy has been building a credit debt mountain and house prices have been going out of workers wages reach...... still no impact of intervention from the TUC during this time to react to the situation as it got worse, and nothing on TV news about the current credit crunch...... but then its far to late ...so I wonder what is the point of the TUC regarding the RM regulator and the trade union movement on many basic things....... Vic Feather and the like made the news in some way.

Rm pay Crozier 1 million a year and Mandelson thinks TNT have better management skills..... not very proud to be british comes to mind but overpay people not to acheive seems to be the way things have gone. bankers being one secter of people just feathering their own nest ...TUC TAKE NOTE...Make some noise.

Why dont you sign up for emails from them you will be amazed about what goes on in the big bad world.

They may be say a lot but what are they acheiving, this country has been getting into this mess for the past 10 years.....can`t say I have heard anything from the TUC on mainstream TV banging the drum on unequality of weath distribution, high utiliy costs, high house inflation, and massive credit card and mortgage debt.

I would have thought withdrawning financial support to the labour party unless things improve for working class to be a priority.

A personal maximum credit limit for everyone based on their earnings, and a 3 times earnings for mortgage loans would have reduced the chance of a credit crunch dramatically ..... so where was the TUC banging the drum for these sensible and other points to be imposed on national media during the past 10 years.
Remember its what you hear that gets peoples attention and the impact that comes from it.

Lets hope they start shouting for change and stability on the financial front and other issues like utility costs on main stream TV along with others that are having their say and imput. Take the chance to rise while the government is on a low ebb ...and to take that opportunity to be heard far more now and in the future and make an impact and actually acheive .... the workers have the main power if used correctly and with guidance from the TUC could create a far more equal and better UK society.

They just need to get off their backside and start doing it....what am I paying into the union movement for?

Yes this new Labour, more like 60% conservative is a disgrace to the labour movement. The fact that mandelson wants to give TNT a 30% stake in RM, as he says they have management skills to improve RMs business. If that is the case why is Crozier being paid a £1 million plus a year if RM is in such poor shape with him in charge.

TNT if allowed into RM will take their cut of any profits and that money will be lost to the UK as it will be taken out of the country to TNTs home base. Mandelson has lost the pride in having a postal service run soley by UK workers and management...he was no good last time he was in office now he is at it again in such a short while on hIs return. One questions what he will be getting out of it all for backing TNT.

The TUC have watched most of our services and utilities sold off abroad, and maybe their attitued towards backing the unions workers is open to question. Little point in having the ability and the strength to make some changes to our society for better equality, if after paying my subs they they don`t use this power.
We get ripped off enough in this country, and after paying my subs do not expect to be ripped off by non action from the TUC.

Maybe stopping my subs will have to be the answer.

Agreed the whole Trades union movement needs to start moving and doing it for us the members. And we pay the Union movement cause Labour or no if and when the other side get in we will look back on these times with fondness and wish we could return to the good old days of now.

It is a legal and polictical war zone why a union cannot defend it's membership but who has been our polictical leaders for 11 year's now? you would think the tory party no (new labour) need i say anymore!.

k979aaa...Yes you right....

The trade union movement need to raise their proflie and be recognised with respect. The days of the wealthy and their loopholes and offshore account etc.... need to be challenged and taxation changed pro rata to income.

The days of 500k plus high earners employed by a company needs to be addressed to a more fairer distribution of wealth or at least a move in that direction. Crozier earns in one year that a basic postie takes 50 years to earn....something major wrong and unjust beyond reasonable exceptable logic...... the sheer greed and shameful attitued to pay a person 50 times more than the workers below him, is a point in question that should have had TUC intervention well before now. if only to highlight the gross stupidity of paying such a massive salary wether he achieves anything or not...if he does he gets even more or nearly double the salary with bonuses.

While posties struggle on around 20k basic and probably many other union workers likewise, such high salaries do nothing for the morale of the working class...in fact it can be said to be financial discrimination that condems many workers to loose much of their spending power on their earnings over the past 10 years. The TUC needs to seek and succeed in less taxation for the working class and shift the balance to high earners to reflect the massive increases in their salaries over the past 10 years.

The complex minefield of financial changes that have taken place in the past 12 years are far to many to mention here, but needless to say it has gone against the working class...with pension changes and loss of final salary pension to many, and countless indrect tax increases, community charges and utility bills all nibbling away at those on below the average wage of around 23k. The massive increase each year to those claiming some sort of benefit is obvious that wages are keep too low.

Like I have said while for 12 years this has been going on, the TUC have fallen asleep and have been greatly noticed by their absence on the media, instead of fighting our cause for a better slice of the UK cake.
