Head for the downloads section and look for Lighten the Load:

Welfare facilities & Toilets
Due to the potential for delivery staff to be away from their unit for extended periods of time
it is necessary to ensure there is suitable and sufficient access to welfare facilities particularly
sanitary conveniences. Access to toilets is a human right – doing without is not an option and
where there are no toilets available on the delivery walk or adjacent delivery walks then a
return to the unit is necessary. :wave :wave

And this is also why we have a three and a half hour delivery span as to go any longer with out such facilities and conveniences would be a degradation of one's human rights but if one's need is more then it should be accommodated!.

However to answer the original question, I have been helping write the walk logs for my section and we have 1 walk that has no toilet. It was written into the duty that the person covering the duty must call and advise they need the toilet, they will then be collected, do their thing, and then be taken back out. If this affect the delivery in that it will go over then the postie should advise the manager on calling to ask for collection.

Hope that helps.
This may work at your unit TBT however trying to get a manager to answer the phone in our unit to ask to be picked up for a rest break (toliet) or enquire where our other delivery bags are ect, is an impossible task. :wave

I'm not using my mobile to contact my manager, if they want me to contact them then they can give me a mobile.

I'm supposed to ring in failed specials before 1.00. The nearest phone box is a good walk away, and they haven't given me any change. I use my own phone, just so I don't get labeled 'awkward', but one of these days I'm going to claim the 20 - 25 mins overtime and 20p that the call costs.

Back on topic, none of the walks (5) I do have a toilet. Well, one does but it's a 15 min walk away. I usually hold on, but yesterday I went on a little country lane (but yards from homes), and felt very uncomfortable about it.

Most walk logs I have seen are a work of fiction for inspection by officials like H+S who have no knowledge of the real conditions. My office Our rounds are some way from the office
up to 6 miles all housing estates. Most Posties my self included have a favorite bush or bushes around their walk ,but have no idea what ladies are meant to do ,Walk log says schools or medical centers,Medical centers are ok If open ,what about Saturdays ,schools you need to be CRB checked to use their facilittes!

Firstly I wouldn't attempt to use a customers toilet facility whether shop, school, medical center or otherwise without an officially signed agreement between both parties.

That aside, where am I supposed to safely put my up to 16 kilo mail bag whilst I'm crammed into someones cubicle. Also who cleans up the mess left as a result of my sopping wet storm coat which has created a slipping hazard for every other potential visitor to the facility. This is a serious point because from a H&S standpoint I am neither trained nor covered as responsible for that task meaning that I'd have to ensure rapid deployment of an appointed person was arranged prior to entry to the facility.

If I need to take a dump which results in the necessity to cut off and I'm supposed to inform the lino/DOM ASAP; and if I'm willing to use my own mobile and that mobile is allowed to be used on that said premises, does that mean its my duty to ring em before, during or after I've wiped my arse? :confused

What would happen if you have a "motion in motion,so to speak" whilst waiting for collection, would that count?

From reading on here it looks like almost everyone is in the same boat, no toilet facilities on your run. What the CWU need to do then is insist that Royal Mail supply a mobile toilet for each area ( by area I mean town not one per delivery office ). The driver could be someone on light duties or even a manager ( what else are they doing anyway and they seem to be out on patrol all the time at the moment anyway) We also need mobiles to call them and if we are in danger generally. In a time when RM management want to save money lets create some jobs.

thats the trouble Managers AND Pegasus forget that we are human, not Robots, if they are going to increase the delivery hours then we should split it in half and return to office to breaks and toilets , then back out again with the second half.
